Mini should be there for heart alone, he got smashed a few times last night, got straight up and on with the job, hes a club legend and deserves to leave on his terms, I think hes good enough to go around again next year.

I'll need to watch a few more games with him at the back. In today's game, you need a fullback who can do a bit of ballplaying.

I'll reserve my judgement until the end of the year.

I think its fairly straight forward, if we cant get dugan until 2012 then we sign mini for another year. hes been there for ages knows what to do and will be playing there for the rest of the year. no point moving someone next year or blooding an youngster and then waiting for them to find their feet before scrappping them after a year.

on another note it would be good to instill a culture of loyalty at the club. mini is one of our longest serving and has been an absolute legend. developing this culture of loyalty might provide the incentive for players to knock back more lucrative offers from other clubs once all these great youngsters we have start peaking and the salary cap starts to pinch.

If he keeps on playing like he did last night, then yes.

That may be true of a lot of teams, but not when you have Carney, Pearce and Anasta in the same team ... You don't need four ballplayers.

We Dugan close to signing with the Raiders, Mini to re-sign is a must. We could do a whole lot worse signing some talented kid who has zero interest in the club (only the dollars)

Mini can't throw a simple draw pass.

So many backline moves require the fullback to chime in with a pass.

Agree, esp against the good defensive sides... Slater's passing has been crap for yrs, although William is improving...Boyd is really starting to impress...can Dugan pass? Hayne, well he can pass but is prone to a bit of the Finch Syndrome, ie Row32

We do have 3 ball players (even though 1 of them is slow and can only pass 1 way), so I'm happy for the Italian Mountain Cat to play like the General and just hit holes and be safe at the back.

I agree with 3 recognised ball players in the team it's not the biggest issue but he still has to offer something. Slater has never been the best ball player but his support play and kick returns are invaluable for the Storm... certainly two aspects of the game Mini excelled in during his prime if he starts to get that back (which there were glimpses of on Friday) then he'll be a valuable part of our team.

I hope that the club invest in a good young fullback though... I'm not sure Ben Jones is the answer if Mini is to go down injured. Massey from the Dogs would've been a decent signing but I believe he's about to sign with Canberra.

Two words LUKE TOWERS, why would we go out and buy someone when we have got a potentially brilliant fullback. Plus he's a local junior and would be cheap.

The point is the cap. We have a very strong 9, 7 and 6. That likely means that we have to compromise a bit at the 1. Even the Storm had to compromise with Finch at 6 and they were a million bucks over the cap. I always wondered how anyone thought we could have Friend, Pearce, Carney and Dugan in one team and still have a reasonable pack and even a breathing three quarter line.

I agree Rooster_6 that we need to bring a good young fullback through but I don't think it will be one that we have to compete financially for.
