  • Souths fans have reason to be paranoid

What a load of crap. The Roosters have lost games all season because of incompetent match officials and we have to put up with this drivel.

SOUTH Sydney are not whining or moaning about costly refereeing decisions - but they damn well should be.

The Daily Telegraph can today publish statistics and photos showing why Souths have been desperately unlucky not to have won a further three games this season.

Rather than be positioned just inside the top eight, the Rabbitohs could easily be equal second alongside Penrith on 26 competition points.

Dubious penalties within five minutes of fulltime may well have cost Souths wins in round two against Gold Coast, round 15 against Manly and round 18 against the Roosters.

Gold Coast were also unlucky against Melbourne in round five.

"We've got some tough decisions this season that we aren't happy about," said Souths chief executive Shane Richardson.

"We like to think they will even out over a season.

"But after those penalties we should still have defended those sets of six. The good sides do that. We have to be mentally tougher."

In round two, with South Sydney leading 18-16, referee Ashley Klein penalised and sin-binned halfback Chris Sandow for holding down Scott Prince.

The Titans kicked a goal to send the game into golden point. In extra time, Souths prop Roy Asotasi was penalised for a strip on Ashley Harrison. The Titans kicked for touch, and went one tackle before Prince kicked a field goal for his side to win 19-18.

In round 15 at Brookvale, Souths led 25-24 when video ref Paul Simpkins disallowed a try from Issac Luke, instead penalising David Taylor for obstruction. From the penalty, Manly kicked a field goal to level the scores at 25-all before kicking another in the 79th minute to win 26-25.

And last weekend against the Roosters, Souths led 14-12 late in the game when referee Jason Robinson penalised Beau Champion on the last tackle for pushing Roosters centre Kane Linnett. From the next set of six, the Roosters scored to win the match 18-14.

At the Souths Facebook group there were 85 comments complaining about the referees this year, and in particular in the game against us. I joined the group and pointed out that they were conveniently ignoring the fair try we had disallowed. I got only one response, telling me that it was a Souths group and to bugger off. No one tried to refute my point about the try. Even they could see it was a sham decision and that we wuz rubbed.

Sandy, did Beau's penalty or your missed tackle cost souffs the game?

apparently they are using a 5 y.o kid to actually do it from the local pre-school.

i guess this is souffs verson if the rant that brian smith had.

Rather than say it to the refs face and cop the fine, souffs are hiding behind their mouthpiece in the tellucrap.
