In all seriousness, the reffing this season has been bloody awful. If that dodgy penality hadn't moved us along we would have been complaining about the "forward pass" that stopped Aub's first try. Ref has cost us one game this season, if it more than that I reckon we'd all be just as filthy.

Rivalry aside it stuffs up the game, and I feel for all the teams that suffer because of bull calls made at crucial times... even souths.

What a load of shit. Souths aren't the only team being screwed over by the referees.

Warriors won on the weekend but didn't they have to try win on the back of an 11-3 penalty count?

Souffs are the whiniest club around. **** I wish they hadn't been reinstated.

And what about the try the Roosters were denied in a tight game? That could have won Souths the game.

As for The Telegraph writing this article, you need to remember that Shane Richardson drinks socially with Mascord and other News Ltd hacks. Richardson was whingeing to all his buddies outside the press room after the match. He is a News Ltd man after all.

Now Burgess is getting in on the "refs are against souffs" bandwagon

Burgess bitter over Pearce bell-ringer By Brent Zerafa From: The Daily Telegraph July 13, 2010 12:00AM

BIG Sam Burgess doesn't have a problem with the late fifth-tackle penalty that gifted the Roosters the opportunity to win their fierce local derby over Souths, but he is filthy at being penalised and placed on report for his brutal but legal hit on Mitchell Pearce.
The Rabbitohs enforcer, who has already captured a spot on many highlight reels for his impressive defence, rattled the Roosters and NSW halfback with a bell-ringer at a crucial stage late in the first half. It was one of the best tackles of the season and would have handed back possession to the Rabbitohs only a minute after they had conceded a try.

But as the red and green forward pack surrounded Burgess to celebrate the result, referees Jason Robinson and Alan Shortall stopped play and discussed the monster hit. After a short consultation, the tackle was deemed to be a penalty and Burgess was placed on report.

"I don't know where that decision came from," said Burgess, who was cleared by the match review committee. "I thought the referee on the ground initially ruled a knock-on, which seemed right, but then the next thing I knew they had given a penalty.

"You can't say that the decision changed the game, but it was the difference between having an attacking scrum or defending our line."

Video evidence clearly reveals Burgess's initial contact was with Pearce's chest with several angles showing his left arm wrapped around the playmaker's biceps. The ruling was not the only decision to infuriate Rabbitohs faithful, who continue to rage over the penalty awarded against Beau Champion for a ruck infringement in the dying minutes.

While conceding it wasn't ideal, Burgess did not want to complain. "I thought it was a worthy penalty, it is unfortunate that it was late in the game and gave the Roosters another set of six," he said.

"You can't afford mistakes at the ruck which give the referee an opportunity at blowing a penalty against you at any stage."

That's 100% right, we are not coming out and blaming the refs anymore no matter how much we get hammered, Brian is just telling the guys they have to go out next game and perform even better to get that win instead of blaming the refs for our losses which i think has played a big role in how we have been performing over the last few years.

Someone should ask Sandow if he is afraid of being tackled ?
                      2 runs ,4 metres !!!

BTW that article by Burgess is why he doesn't belong at Souths, he has at least half a brain.

Taro from the Chookpen left a great comment !!!

Why do you always drop cheap shoulders on players when their lying on the ground? Do you think it’s cowardly? Do you think you have little man syndrone? Do you constantly point to your emblem on your chest to remind everyone that Souths have made the finals just once in 20 years?

Typical arrogant chook fan. Calling Chris a coward? Have you forgotten about Riley Browns hit on Craig Wing? That was a cowardly act. As is bagging people who give up their free time to answer questions on this blog.
                                Ignore these idiots Chris.
and here is the cats response

                                G’day mate,

Geez you’re a bit harsh there on the mighty Bunnies mate. I like playing tough and we’ve got a good rivalry with the Roosters so it’s just something that happens with the shoulders. I love the Bunnies and I’m passionate about the red and green jersey so that’s why I point to the Rabbit.

                                Chris Sandow
