Saw this in the Friday liftout today of the Canberra Times;

So Josh Dugan was supposed to sign with the Raiders on Monday. He didn't. He was then supposed to sign with the Raiders on Tuesday. He didn't. The club reckons there have been communication issues with Dugan's manager. We reckon perhaps where there's smoke, there's fire.
Before any of these delays, we'd heard Roosters chairman Nick Politis had put in a "please explain" call to Dugan's manager Paul Sutton after the fullback announced at a post-match press conference on Saturday night that he was staying in Canberra for the 2012 NRL season. Word on the street prior to said announcement was that Duges was headed for Bondi and that his commitment to the Raiders had come as a shock to the chooks.
And so the saga continues.
So Duges was allegedly heading to Bondi, a year out from his Contract expiring?
Just after some clarification from any possible Legal Eagles who may be on the forum.
1) Isn't it illegal for clubs to approach players while they are still under conract at another club? I was under the impression clubs couldn't talk to players until their contract is due to renew. Duges was contracted until the end of 2011.
2) If it is, why would NP be asking for a 'Please Explain'?
