  • Pearce and Myles in doubt for monday night

coach Smith has an interesting selection headache for mondays game with Pearce in doubt with a hamstring strain and Myles still troubled by the ongoing hip injury.

due to our poor for and against a loss will see us plummet to the bottom of the 8, so Smith needs to decide if he is willing to risk losing both Pearce and Myles for extended periods if they play and further aggrevate their respective injuries.

The Roosters have 3 tough games coming up. Especially with the quick turnaround before the Eels games.

I wouldn't be risking our two best players. There is a lot of footy to be played before the finals start.

        Rest them both.

Anasta to 5/8 Carney to halfback.

I actually think Carney and Anasta would go alright together in the halves if they both just played very direct, as long as they just hung off each other and run at gaps and didn't try to be ballplaying wide until late in sets I think they could go alright.

Certainly not better than Pearce and Carney but definitely serviceable. Better to go up and have a crack without them and have them both fit for a finals charge than risk aggravating an injury.

I would take a loss if i meant resting pearce and myles to make sure they were 100%.

Then agaoin, we have won games with anasta and carney in the halves.

argh I think it's safer to rest them given all the big games we have coming up.

            but Still.

Their replacements are either Guerra, Leilua or Symonds.

Leave Anasta at lock and bring in Tom Symonds to 5/8 with Carney at half back.

If I'm not mistaken Tommy played a lot of his NYC at 5/8

                    Bring in BJ for Myles

It could be a blessing in disguise. We are unlikely to get two points on Monday even with these two playing; rest them up for the five day turn around against Parra.

It improves our chances of winning that more winnable game.

Would anyone consider Foran or Miller good enough to step into Pearce's role for one game? Haven't seen much of Foran recently and haveing seen too much of Miller at all.

It would be a big ask of Miller, but if he is as good as people say, he might handle it.

Always a fan of replacing an injured player with the next in line rather than shuffling a whole heap of players to accomodate someone in a different position. Especially when the team has found a winning formula (i.e. Carney at 5/8, Anasta at lock).

I just don't get why people think we won't win this game. Did anyone watch the Broncos go around last week? With Myles and pearce out we will be in a bit of trouble, but at full strenghth, we would have more chance of getting the points this week, then next week, with the short turn around.

You've obviously forgotten what happened the last time we had this turnaround - the Sharks beat us by 30.

Play everyone against the Broncs then rest Myles and Pearce for the ridiculously short turnaround against the Eels and reload for the Dragons the following Sunday. The Eels in Hayne Train mode will run us ragged and score tries at will.

Miller is not ready for first grade, he is a massive talent but is way to small at the moment to handle the physical side of the game, if he stays with us his time will come, as for Foran they didn't use him last time Pearce was out so wouldn't expect them to this time.
