  • EASTS Vs St George at the SCG pre Game Thread

This game is an absolute blockbuster. Game of the season by far.

This is a huge match at a great stadium between two great rivals who are in white-hot form.

The club would've expected 20,000 for a game at the Cricket Ground with St. George no matter where the Roosters were coming on the table. But now that the tricolour bandwagon is well and truly rolling, the crowd figure could be anything.

I wonder if the NRL will shell out for any TV adverts/what promotion the Roosters will commit to. If it is properly advertised, and the press give this match the huge build up it deserves, the crowd could be upwards of 40,000.

    Prediction on crowd figure?

    Addition From Admin:

The Roosters members/season ticket holders will be in the upper levels of the Brewongle Stand

The Chookpen in bays 32/33 of the brewongle stand

Here is the SCG layout for the match

    Ticket prices as follows:

    Premium Reserved Adult $40.00
Concession (Pensioner / FT Student) $30.00
    Junior 6-12 yrs $20.00

    Standard Reserved Adult $32.00
Concession (Pensioner / FT Student) $24.00
    Junior 6-12 yrs $15.00

    General Admission Adult $22.50
Concession (Pensioner / FT Student) $16.50
    Junior 6-12 yrs $10.00
Family Fun Day! Family of 4 $50.00

Anything less than 40,000 would be disappointing. I heard they are innducting some past players into the Roosters hall of fame on that day, 2 from pre WWII, and 3 from after WWII. It's obvious the pre WWII would be Messenger and Brown, however who would you want to be the 1st 3 inductees from post war era?

I would put Beetson and Gibson as certainties. However the 3rd choice would cause plenty of debate. Fittler, Ricketson and Hastings would have to be up there.

I'm certain that in time Fitz and Mini and McGahan would get in, as would other legends like Fairfax and co.

After the ANZAC Day game who would have thought we would be favourites for this game.

              (I'm assuming we will be)

i don't think this game will have a favorite, and nor it should. Even odds for both head to head, depending on injuries and late inclusions/exclusiions

St George will start favourites, I'm sure.

                  1.80 St George
                  2.10 Easts

                  Something like that.

If we were going to drop a game on the run home I would expect it to be this one or the Manly one (I want redemption for scumunlla and cowgirls games more than anything) and merge are going to come into this all guns blazing you would think...

But for the first time in what feels like years I'm excited for a merge game and reckon we could really do some damage in current form.

Bring it! And I won't have to sit in opposition territory for this one, woop.

If you were a bookie would you have those odds after the last few weeks of both teams?

We won five in a row and the Dragons should have lost four in a row. They will get hammered if they put us up at $2.10.

My guess is we'll be $1.75 to $2.00.

I'll be very, very surprised if we're in the red. We have a terrible record against St George (lost 8 of last 10) and a terrible record at the SCG. Dragons will be hell-bent on not losing three in a row. It'll be tough.

I think we'll either lose or blow them away.

Just talking bookies odds Tom. They generally go on form not previous record. If this were two horses with current form, who would you have as favourite?

no doubt, this will be our biggest test by far. How much have Smith and the boys learnt from their drubbing of us on ANZAC day? The match was physical and close as close can be for the majority of the match.. only for Merge to use their choking powers as we succumbed to overwhelming defensive pressure.

This time though, circumstances are different.. we're in red hot form and Saints are in an early form slump. They had nothing against the Broncos and were also deadset ordinary against the Titans.

I don't think we can win this in a wrestle. The opposition are masters are masters at grinding others into submission.

We must come out all guns blazing and blow them off the park earlier on. It'll no doubt, throw them off their game plan. But even so, repeat sets are crucial.. and scoring at ever single opportunity through forced offloads would only be to our disadvantage.

Time for Pearce and Carney to display their utmost attacking brilliance, but at the same time, maturity when the time need be.

If I recall correctly.. last time we played them, no Jake Friend, Carney was fullback, Anasta was 6 Mini was on the wing & no Linnett?

                              ALOT has changed..
