Reality is, the team is winning far more than it's losing.

Reality is, Koops will get picked, week in, week out.

        Wake up.
I never said Kouparshitsis won't get picked every week. It is abundantly obvious that even after an interminable string of incompetent, uninspiring, inept performances he is a favourite of the coach.

Why would I want to bring the team down? I love it when the team does well. But success does not mean that there should be no scrutiny of team selection, tactics etc. I don't think Smith would have gone into work on Monday morning, kicked off his shoes and proclaimed: "good win at the weekend, lads. No need to look over the tape - we can steamroll the Saints at the weekend because things have been going okay for the last couple of weeks."

Healthy discussion about aspects of performance even when the team is successful is useful. If you are content with mediocrity, if close enough is good enough, then so be it.

          I agree.

What isn't healthy is biased bagging of players who actually aren't going all that badly.

I never said Smith would do that. But if he sees the team being better balanced with Koups, then good on him. It's working at the moment, so until it stops working, long may it continue.

He's not even that bad anyway. Can be decent when he decides to play his natural game, and not throw cut out passes into the ground.

            koups is a weird one.

I cringe everytime he gets the ball and wonder why he is selected, but the fact he has been selected week after week, i wonder would we be the same team without him there??????

He is an absolute safety first option. despite the fact that he is complete rubbish he covers backrow and more importantly hooker god forbid something happens to jake. if the team were not going so red hot then perhaps there would be more reason to risk the extra impact player on the bench.
He will more than likely be gone next season and his role will be filled to much greater effect by watts.

all i can remember from his game today is the knock on play the ball when we were finally attacking, and one tackle (cant say who on or when, but i thought to myself great tackle and it was koups)

It was Kouparitsis' incorrect play the ball, within about two minutes of him coming on, that gave St George the ball for their first try.

nick wasnt the only one who screwed up today. errors cost us. nicks not a game winner, but he's not there to be. he's an average player used off the bench to fill a few spots. he does a job. gone are the days when teams can have a bench of origin players. that team is playing for "pride"

I'll take a leaf out of your book and preface my criticism of Kouparitsis with "this is not Kouparitsis bagging but..." in future.

True fitzy but we have had better options all year. He is being used as a back-up dummy half but he ain't a dummy half's fart. If necessary for the ten minutes Friend occasionally has off, even Braith can slip into dummy half. That will give us a much better option on the bench.
