  • Sharks chasing Brad Murray

Daily Telegraph thinks Sharks are going to sign him. Would be a massive shame to lose him but where are we going to play him? If Sharks can't convince Kimmorley to play on they will target Murray... Tele thinks Parra and Canberra might also have a crack

    Sharks chasing Brad Murray

its a shame that we will lose the likes of Murray/Miller because they can see no path into first grade while they are stuck behind Pearce/Carney.

Murray has been outstanding for the NYC team this year and is one of the best young goalkickers I have ever seen, hopefully he can forge a successful career at another club.

ROOSTERS under-20s skipper Brad Murray has emerged as Cronulla's halfback contingency should they fail to convince Brett Kimmorley to extend his career for another season.

The young No. 7 - who made headlines in January after saving a Central Coast man in the surf - leads the Toyota Cup in many of the playmaking categories. But because he's buried beneath a wealth of talented playmakers at Bondi, Murray has attracted neither headlines nor a new offer from the Roosters.

Apart from the Sharks, Parramatta and Canberra crave a new halves combination for 2011. Although Parramatta are still trying to coax Trent Barrett out of retirement, the prime contenders are Kimmorley and Matt Orford.

But should Kimmorley retire and Orford stick with Bradford, Murray could well burst into the frame as a sought-after option.

This seemed inevitable to me given the incumbents in FG are themselves still young.
I wish him well and whichever team gets him will be fortunate.

Looked a great prospect every time I've seen him.

            Shame.

But it's to be expected. If our halves stick around they could be together for another 7-8 or so years. Pearce could be here another 12-13 alone

I play devil's advocate by saying that just because a player goes great guns in the NYC that he may not make the leap to the NRL. I wish him luck but no luck against the Roosters.

Murray is a solid player but not irreplaceable.

Wish him luck wherever he goes. He doesn't possess any great skills to brag home about but has a really good work ethic. That's hard to find in young players these days.

It might mean Jacob Miller stays on board with us now. He looks a better prospect than Murray in the limited times I've seen them play.

It'd be ashame to lose Murray but we can't keep them all, especially since our halves are young enough to be the halves pairings for the next 10 years. It'd be good if we can sign him and let him be depth to Carney and Pearce, especially when Origin time comes. He is a good young player. His passing and kicking game is exceptional, far superior to Jacob Miller's IMO but Miller is a much better ball runner.

I reckon I could kick further than Murray and I haven't played for more than 20 years.. A good honest toiler as Mick said with a good work ethic but he is no where near the class of Pearce and Carney and letting him go would be the best for all parties concerned.

I think Murray is quite a good player with a good head on his shoulders -he is young.
i would keep him -If pearce wins a title in the next few years with us I will guarantee he will leave for a big pay day .

a neat player but he doesn't look like an NRL player to me

not what the Sharks need, but good luck to him if he gets a contract

The Sharks need a miracle. Nothing else.
