  • BIG positive

I was just watching the high-lights from the games this weekend, and we were far far from blown off the park. There were some really amazing tries scored in every game this weekend, yet NO high-light package would include any try from today in our game.

We would have out-defended any team in the comp this weekend, except for the Dragons. We now know where we stand, and I think when we meet them in the finals they may have a mental edge, but I think we know what it takes, now, mentally to take them on sucessfully.

I can't finish my crap speil without giving a big mention to Mose...forget JWH, this bloke is our enforcer.

i do think the dragons were clear deserving winners

our first few sets said it all really, and set the tone for the rest of the match. We struggled to get out of our 25m zone in our first two sets whilst, conversely, they made 60ms with ease.. hitting it up and getting a smooth roll on

cant say i was happy with the speed of our defensive line

but having said that, we defended stoutly and only got beaten by a mere 7 points despite droppnig ball after ball

Reminds me of a young PETRO

He left some nice souvenir bruises on the St Choke forwards

But on the back of tired defence still held them out.

The Drags didn't let us play our natural game. But how long can they hold out teams defensively ? The next time they play us, I'm sure Smith will want to play expansive footy. We learn't a lesson today, and we won't do it again. In saying that, I'm sure a lot of other teams learn't a lesson today to not get into a grind or arm wrestle with them.

The Dragons pretty well threw everything at us today, yet only came up at the end seven points up. The Tigers on their day will do a job on them...and so will we next time.

I disagree. Saints know they can't play much better and only just won. Our boys know we made a heap of errors and came within a whisker of winning it. Saints will fretting about playing either us or the Broncos.

You should listen to the Brian Smith interview after the game. When questioned whether Saints dominance should have resulted in a big halftime lead to the Saints, Smithy's retorted something like "we would have been leading by 20 at half time if we didn't make so many silly errors in good attacking positions".

I agree with this comment. The Dragons played their best yesterday. The Roosters played well, but they will know they could've played much better. There won't be a mental edge to the Dragons. If anything, the Roosters will now know what the mental requirements are. If they can be as mentally as prepared for the next encounter as the Dragons were yesterday, they will come out on top. There is more raw talent in the Roosters team than the Dragons.

The Tigers won't do a job on anyone. They are done and have been for weeks. They're limping into the finals. Look for a week 1 or 2 exit.

                    We made too many mistakes.

But we will towel them when we play them in the semis.

They have absolutely nothing in attack.

As they say "You learn more from a loss than you do from a win" and I think this is the perfect time to learn a few lessons.

Still far enough away from the semis to get a roll on again, yet close enough to remember the lessons from this loss if we do meet again.

The best part of all this is knowing the drags will choke, even with Bennett, they will choke.
I'm looking forward to it. It's 2005 all over again for the queens

I know its a far cry from NRL, but yesterdays loss reminded me of a game when I was coaching a few years back. We played the minor premiers in our competition in the major semi final (we play the top 5 system). We played terribly, much like the Roosters yesterday and in the end were beaten 24-14. Our opponents had heaps more ball then us and dominated territorially but in the end it was 4 tries to 3 with goal kicking letting us down. I said to my players after the game that there was no way we could play that bad again and if we could make it through to the GF I thought we were certainties. 2 weeks later we controlled possession much better and ground out a 20-12 win!

I got that same sort of feeling yesterday....disappointed in the result but pleased with the effort and more confident about our chances than what I had been before the game. I could be wrong, but I think we needed to lose to try and reduce the hype surrounding us. Hopefully we can slink back into the background and prepare for this weeks game without all the hoopla. I believe this weekend will tell us exactly how our team is travelling. If we can't do a job on the Sharks then we really are making up the numbers.

I am confident we can beat that side we played yesterday.Injuries are again starting to become our enemy though.
