    Victory is ours.

    But not at all convinced.

Our pack was absolutely rubbish today, very little go-forward, it took some inspired counter-attacking by Carney, Pearce, Perrett, SKD and Graham to get us out of trouble.

we were rubbish today, if not for some luck finally from the Refs we would have been belted.

      - not one forward made over 70 metres
      - 41 missed tackles
      - even with several length of the field trys Manly gained an extra 170 metres
      - no structure in defense, we were bent back all day

I still don't understand how we won today.

some worrying injuries starting to mount up, Masoe looks gone and Conn will get suspended.

Is our lack of hitups from the forwards a tactic? We once again only gave up 2 linebreaks and they were both out wide.....maybe Brian is keeping them as fresh as possible for defence and for the finals?

Manly were rubbish in attack a half decent side would have cut us to shreds in the first half today.

we have to find a better balance we will be quickly smashed out of the finals if we don't improve our respect for posession and forwards impact both in defence and attack, our line speed is non-existent we just invite teams to attack us from inside our 20.

with the current balance of play we require every pass to stick like the second half to have any chance of competing.

Lets put this in perspective. Other than the warriors, all teams above us were not convincing. For us coming out of a 3 games slump, this was a great way to recover so a little appreciation for the effort.

In my opinion Manly was playing with at least 3 injured players who were drugged up to their eyeballs on pain killers. This gamble lost them the game because their stars were in pain, frustrated and... angry! I don't have stats in front of me, but Manly gave away lots of really stupid penalties.

That and Manly aren't good finishers... What was the stat? Last 4 games they have been scoreless in the second half...

It was a great win and our boys should be proud. We won the physical battle and most importantly the mental battle. Despite constant raids near the end we put 30 unanswered points on Manly. 30!!!! Although we really needed another try, this win certainly helped our PD.

Our 1st half skills were crap though. We play 2 games! Past 3 weeks I've seen that 1st half play waaaay too many times! SKD's first try, while amazing, was against the run of play. We were lucky to get an 8 point try... I seriously thought there was nothing in it... then suddenly we were ahead!

Jake Friend deserves a lot of praise... him and Carney looked like twins out there (maybe just me? Nate/Conn look like brothers with the beard too.) Anyway I was impressed by how Friend simply ran the ball straight and hard! That kind of running is great because you make meters, draw defenders to one side and have a low chance of stuffing up. So well done Jake! Jake, Carney, Pearce, defensively JWH and SKD all played well in my opinion.

Unfortunately Ford might be spending some more time with the Jets... He defended okay, but made some sorry mistakes. Still... great to see him out there!

Mentally a great game... I think partly due to the fact Manly gambled on too many injured players while we rested Mini + possibly Linnett? Not a pretty win, but look at the score board!!! Didn't concede many points, and scored 30 unanswered points... great to see our boys will be playing some finals footy!

                    • Wish Graham would run off Carney's shoulder like in the lead up to the first SKD try more often. It looked so dangerous and I think its the first time they have done it all year.

                      • Why would you replace a fullback with a lanky 5/8th/backrower instead of throwing Towers in there.

Ford wasn't THAT bad but surely it was a common sense decision.
