  • Roosters in League Leading positions !

    This year has been a fantastic improvement, especialy from last season.

    on the field at times our chooks have been hot and cold, but they have cemented a finals spot !

    on top of that, a couple of Roosters are becoming league leaders (as at the completion of round 25)!

    Todd Carney: a Favorite for Dally M, after round 13 he was second behind Benji Marshall for the Provan summons (people's choice) medal (voting for this is still avaliable on NRL.com), He is also second top points scorer, 21 points behind Michael Gordon.

    SKD: is currently equal 4th for NRL top try scorer, only 3 tries behind Uate of the Knights !

    The team itself:
    3rd in tries scored with 95
    2nd in line breaks with 120
    2nd in try conversions with 77
    1st in Dummy half runs with 602
    Last in Penaties for with a lowly 105

    Best centres in the NRL:

    Israel Folau - 19 games, 20 tries, 20 linebreaks, 2 try assists, 119 tackle breaks, average 14 runs for 126 metres

    Shaun Kenny-Dowall - 23 games, 18 tries, 17 linebreaks, 1 try assist, 144 tackle breaks, average 13 runs for 128 metres

    Michael Jennings - 22 games, 14 tries, 12 linebreaks, 5 try assists, 95 tackle breaks, average 11 runs for 105 metres

    Josh Morris - 22 games, 13 tries, 17 linebreaks, 2 try assists, 76 tackle breaks, average 9 runs for 91 metres

    Chris Lawrence - 20 games, 13 tries, 13 linebreaks, 2 try assists, 48 tackle breaks, average 9 runs for 84 metres

    Willie Tonga - 21 games, 12 tries, 17 linebreaks, 3 try assists, 69 tackle breaks, average 11 runs for 96 metres

    Steve Matai - 20 games, 12 tries, 12 linebreaks, 7 try assists, 69 tackle breaks, average 12 runs for 98 metres

    Jamie Lyon - 20 games, 10 tries, 13 linebreaks, 11 try assists, 52 tackle breaks, average 7 runs for 65 metres

    Matt Cooper - 15 games, 9 tries, 8 linebreaks, 2 try assists, 45 tackle breaks, average 11 runs for 90 metres

    Greg Inglis - 19 games, 9 tries, 9 linebreaks, 5 try assists, 69 tackle breaks, average 10 runs for 96 metres

    It is simply amazing how well SKD compares to some of these centres. Folau and Tonga are the QLD centres, while Jennings, Morris, Lawrence and Lyon are the best centres in NSW.

        So with Folau going to gAyFL, SKD is THE BEST CENTRE IN RUGBY LEAGUE !!!!

        In all honesty, after the pasting he copped over the past couple of season....who would have predicted that he could be in this position.

            Roosdaman, Chook also made a thread, which i agreed with calling out skd as the big improver of the year, but i don't think even his most vocal supporters would have though of an improvement of this magnitude.

                What are his error stats ? Or penalty stats ?

                I think he has improved, but not to the magnitude that some are describing.

                He was always great in attack, by getting him more ball, we are seeing greater results.

                He still cannot tackle properly.

                He still ( although slightly improved) messes up defensive reads.

                He still throws the dumbass pass.

                He still has trouble drawing defenders and passing ( The Perret one on the weekend was a miracle ball and not exactly a textbook draw and pass).

                He has improved, but by gosh, he still has a loooong way to go.

                    I noticed the following too:
                    - He regularly misses a spot underneath his chin when he shaves;
                    - When he wears a tie, the windsor knot he makes is very poor;
                    - His car needs a wash;
                    - He has a funny accent.

                    When he corrects these things he might (MIGHT!) be deserving of unqualified praise for the (few) insignificant good things he offers the team.

                      He's also responsible for the GFC.
                      He was the second gunman on the grassy knoll.
                      He stole Azaria Chambelin.
                      He shot the sheriff AND the deputy.

                        It really does show how flawed stats can be. Although Skid is going well, as are those other blokes, not one of them has it on Inglis. A fit Inglis is head and shoulders better than all of them...at the moment.

                        Teh pressure games is where champions stand up. Finals, origins, Internationals. look at Cooper...the most over rated centre ever behind Matt Gidley. Has never produced yet keeps getting picked for origin.

                        Stats are not everything...actually far from it.

                          Inglis has been crap for a large part of the year and the stats back that up. There is no way he is playing better than those listed above him. He's looked disinterested for most of the season apart from when Joey rattled his cage. Yes he has more ability than those listed above him but he's hardly played to his true level this year.

                            Whilst SKD has improved, he has more improvement left in him as far as I'm concerned.
                            Keep the trend up Shaun and you'll eventually shed the "rocks and diamonds" perception for good.

                              Sorry, I thought the skill of tackling was somewhat important.

                              I guess I was wrong.
