  • Why do the commentators hate us????

After watching the game over again I realised how negative all the talk about the roosters was. From gus gould's constant bickering about the fragility of our defence, to ray warren's mumbling about the poor crowd numbers for roosters games the past few weeks- it seems as though they all have something against us..but what?

And it's not just this game, every channel 9 roosters game i've watched has been mostly negative chat about us, EVEN WHEN WE WIN!!!!! I just don't get it, please can anyone explain?

    its all usually true
the crowd was poor, 23000 for a semi (basically a home game)
defense while not conceding tries wasnt good, the panthers were poor and missing key men, with jennings and lewis going off as well

but who cares what the commentators say,
we won, were in it next week, the roosters have never been well liked, if we win again we will just give them more to whinge about

Gould hates us because Brian Smith told him to get stuffed when he offered to come back as a "consultant."

Yeah that's why they sat next to each other and were speaking all night at the Hall of Fame dinner

Is that true? I had assumed that Gould was just trying to seem unbiased, but has he had a falling out with the club?

I have to say Gould was spot on about our defense. It was loose up the middle. Everyone with me were commenting teh same. If we dont lock up the middle of the field in Defense, Prince will crucify us.

Of course it's not true! As if Phil Gould would offer to be a consultant to a veteran like Brian Smith. I've never heard of anything so stupid.

The guys on fox actually weren't too bad, Mind you they are only 25 min into the first half (replay is on now) and brandy is a co commentator.

As to Ray Warrens comment about the lack of Rooster fans.... he really needs to get a clue. bays 29 - 30 were full (all rooster bays) 31-33 about 80% capacity (again Rooster bays), 34 and 35 PACKED TO CAPACITY ! (again Rooster bays).

Even bays 12 - 16 were packed with Roosters.

Looking at the panthers bays. 36 near capacity. 37 - 38 half full at best Bay 39 was where the bulk of panthers fans were.

These were based on images in the first 5 minutes of the game.

Ray Warren can go suck a big fat one !

Ray Warren used to rabbit on about our crowds even during our heyday of 2002-2004. Newcastle would get 18,000 to a home game and he'd be in raptures about the great crowd. We'd get 20,000 at the SFS and he would denounce it as a very poor crowd. You used to be able to set your watch to it. It would inevitably be the first thing he'd talk about. Every home game.
