  • Frank- paul

What is up with the big fella? I don't want to start a hate/sack him thread. Frank Paul is awesome and we all know how good he is. However, he has really been struggling recently. Should he be dropped to the bench this week with the Beast starting? Should he dropped from the team?

Personally, I would like to see him in the back-row not the front and coming off the bench. But is there a place there for him? We have a lot of backrowers in there especially if BJ is starting. Should Mose come in and Frank-Paul sit out the week? Thoughts?

He should be coming off the bench to run the edges....He is not a prop imo, and i think he knows that.I think i remember him running the ball once the other night. Not good enough!

I agree mate. He is not a prop certainly not one at his current weight. It reminds me of the time Ricko was forced to play prop for a while. They were dark days.

I guess since this is a dedicated thread on FPN I will repost what I've said in another thread earlier

They were saying on the Fox broadcast of the game that FPN has been having respiratory problems for a few weeks now and it's affected his performances.

Sounds like something similar to what Lleyton Hewitt had a few years back.

I also think another problem for him is that he lost a bit of weight when he moved to the backrow and it helped him out when he running at the edges, but now that Smithy has him playing back in the front row he looks like he's too light.

Anasta and Aubbusson play 80 mins on the left and right of the back row. No matter what number Myles plays in, I see him playing in the middle as a lock.

Therefore there is very little room for backrow rotation.

FPN has dropped a lot of weight to become more mobile, but he is now getting busted in the middle trying to fill in as prop.

I wonder if Mose is a better bench prop...

I think you're spot on with that assessment but what he gains with Mose on the attach side he loses with FPN because his defense is very good

Having Frank-Paul as a prop harkens back to the dark old days of David "Blind as a bat" Barnhill as a prop.

He has asthma for a month and that only finished a couple of weeks ago.

The poor bloke could hardly breathe.

In the second row, Frank-Paul is a wrecking machine.

Just the thought of JWH as the enforcer and FPN as the clean up man, makes me very happy.

I don't think he is a prop. He was carving them up from the back row/lock position.

I think JWH coming on after 15-20 minutes is working a treat, why spoil a good thing?

Because we have lost the opening exchanges in our last few games. Penrith didn't put any points on early, but they were making a lot more ground than us from each set. Straight up the middle.

I agree but I would hate to lose what is already working with JWH.

                          Mose into starting prop?

Thats what I would like to see. With a bench of JWH, FPN, Kennedy and Conn.

If we have injuries out wide, we have Maubs that can cover. Friend showed he can play the 80 minutes.

And I did notice that the backline was pitching in to give Friend a rest for periods during the game.
