win or lose come Sunday, by God he deserves an awful lot of credit for what he's done for the club

taking them from the Fittler inspired pisshead rabble they were 12 months ago to a Rooster Rap singing bunch of guys who have a genuine love for the jersey and the club

The last few weeks have been just about the best time to be a Roosters fan I can remember - even better than 02 for some reason. The efforts on the field have been ****ing brilliant, but it all starts at the top, and Smith has been astonishing

My girlfriend and I had the pleasure of meeting him twice this season. The first time, my girlfriend had a family member who was ill at the time, and while we were eating she sort of casually mentioned to him a few of the details, and that it was her niece who was sick.

When we met him again almost 3 months later, that was the first thing he asked - how is Hunter? (even remembered the little girls name)

There is something about the guy - although it's hard to put into words. Listen to the press conference from Friday where he talks about going to visit his mate in jail

He deserves to win on Sunday - and we have much more than a puncher's chance

He's a nice guy. You have to be to survive 27 years in that business.

    But I think he's a nice guy.

Win or Lose he has done a great job, hes moulded the boys together, given them a plan and a direction, and in doing so has given them the self belief and the belief in their team mates that it needs to make a great team and a great season. Watching them grow into a real premiership threat this year has been amazing, I couldnt be prouder of them all.

Taking that rabble of 2009, and transforming them in 2010, even this long time follower had early doubts, team selections, player positions etc, this year has been the best ride, even better than 2002.

From mis-fits to grand finalists, is more than even this ardent easts supporter could of ever imagined.

Also a big thanks go to Uncle Nick. He had to make the tough call of sacking a club legend, even though he should not have been there in the first place. And hire a coach that mixed results in his 27 years of coaching, had mixed reviews by former players, and had not achieved the ultimate prize.

The Mr Fixit coach has achieved the impossible in his first year at the TriColours.

Only notable additions are Todd Carney, and the buy of the year, D Conn.

          One game to go

          Thanks Brian, Thanks Uncle Nick

He's awesome... his help with the SG Ball blokes too earlier in the year showed his dedication to the game not just at NRL Level.

Been very approachable over the years.

Bennett has won 6, I think it's Brians turn now.

Considering what a mess the place was in in 2009 the the turnaround has been monumental and now on and off the field we are a professional unit and contenders.

trewhella nearly turned me off him before the season started.

But, through a project I've been working on this year, I've had the opportunity to meet Brian and he seems like a genuine person.

He is a hell of a coach.

But the last thing I would describe him as is a "nice" guy.

He knows what to do to get people to like him. He is clever.

I think if you would like to assess the basis of ones character, look at what people who have worked with him in the past have had to say about him.

and Vasco, I told you the truth.

What you do with the facts is up to you.

And mate, really this is about Easts winning a premiership not my perceived understandings of Brian Smith the person.

A GF in his first year as coach. The 4 year contract looks pretty good to me.
