    Nathan Hindmarsh rated him as the best coach in the NRL in the players poll this season.. You will find it is those who couldn't cut it who hate him.. Fair enough, he has the balls to make the tough decisions and that is why he has been an NRL coach for so long. If you want a 'nice guy' coach then our team would have been to Bali and back.

        Smith is one of those guys the players either love or hate.
        At Newcastle he was sttched up by amateurs and it changed him a little.
        At the Roosters he is a bit different that at other clubs.
        This is a bit of the reason for sucess, he has reduced the percent of those that don't understand
