  • Will there ever be a more satisfying win or year?

Assuming we win on Sunday, and based on form, there's a good possibility that could happen.

Has there, or will there ever be a more satisfying win or a more satisfying Grand Final win or year as a Rooster or Rooster fan?

Last year, 5 wins, wooden spooners, horrible and unacceptable off field behaviour and a team that severely under performed.

    This year -

Minichiello - Back to his best after coming back from an injury that many thought would be the end of him.

Brian Smith - A master coach who's plans since day one have been a master stroke and been heavily responsible for the massive turn around to the club. Has never won a premiereship and now sees himself in the best position of his career to do so.

Todd Carney - Banished from his home town, makes a remarkable return to the NRL. He wins the Dally M, 5 8th of the year, despite playing many games at fullback. He also wins the Norm Provan Medal and also takes out the prestigious Dally M Award.

Mitchell Pearce - With Todd Carney, will not only become the saviour for New South Wales, but will also become the dominant halves pairing for Australia.

Braith Anasta - A captain who has taken alot of responsibility for what happened last year, has had to deal with his incredibly ill mother, he wins Dally M captain of the year, and really, quite clearly, is now the best captain in the game.

Nate Myles - Turned his season completely around and based on our player poll, is easily rated as our best forward this year.

Jason Ryles - Doubted by many as a dud signing initially, only to turn out to be one of our best buys with the exception of Todd Carney and ironically, last played for St George before he was given the boot.

Jake Friend - Off field drama led him horribly astray. This 19 year old makes a solid return and has become an incredibly under rated #9.

Sam Perrett - Has his first born baby in 2010.

Shaun Kenny-Dowall - In 15 rounds he went from one of the worst centers in the game, to one of the best centers in the game, being compared only to Israel Folau, Greg Inglis & Jamie Lyon.

I could go on and on and on.. but it seems every player has a reason that (should they win on Sunday) will make the year an absolute fairytale for everybody involved and should go down as the greatest comeback and turn around in the history of the game.

I honestly, cannot think of a more satisfying win. Ever.

Being a Rooster that lives in the Illawarra, I have said that a Grand Final win on the weekend is as good as two premierships for me. 1- because the Roosters win and 2 - because the Dragons lose.

Add to all this the personal stories throughout our team, and this is certainly as good as it gets.

The only thing I could possibly think of that would've made it better is if Fitzy was still playing for us this year and this was his send off!

Well written Chris. I really do think it will be one of the most memorable wins in the history of the game. What a ride it has been. Please, please, just one more.

It would be good if we could win a premiership without a team having to be kicked out the comp...

Do the crime, do the time.

          We deserve this.

In my opinion they were not a legitimate team, just a bunch of over hyped cheats.

Smith made crucial positional changes to a variety of players to get the best out of them.

                The first changes made...

                Nuuauasala (prop to backrow)
                Aubusson (centre to backrow)
                Kenny-Dowall (wing to centre)
                Myles (prop to lock)

Alongside these, there are the more publicized positional changes that led to our mid-season rebirth:

                Graham (centre to wing)
                Minichiello (wing to fullback)
                Carney (fullback to five-eighth)
                Anasta (five-eighth to lock)
                Myles (lock to prop)

The initial positions were ideal before the mid-season changes, as:

                - Minichiello was able to ease his way back into first grade before upping his workload
                - Carney was given the confidence to run the ball back and defend one-on-one at fullback
                - Anasta developed his running game and defense further before shifting into the forward pack
                - Myles improved his fitness and consistency at lock before shifting back into the front row

The beauty with Brian Smith is that he knows the positional and personnel changes required depending on the situation.

He has made this team adaptable.

its amazing how quickly the public opinion of the Roosters chances on sunday have changed a couple of weeks ago no one gave us a chance to get here and now if you believe the so called experts at least half are now tipping us to win the comp.

ignore the betting odds because the bookies have taken so much money on the St Merge already they have to shorten their odds to ward off any further money, apparently since friday the money is going 10-1 the Roosters way.

I hope the boys play to their potential on sunday because if they do I don't think St Merge have that extra gear to match us.

Bookies and odds are irrelevant in a Grand Final. They have no control over what happens on the field.

                      Normal premiership games however...

The "experts" are following the bookies. Everyones throwing cash on Easts. Dragons have loosened up and we are coming in.

Chis I agree with all your points but I thought Sammy's baby born this year was his third?

It would seem that it depends on who is playing

Beautifully written Chris. My sentiments exactly. I can't remember ever being so excited and yet satisfied with Easts.
