is the news broadcast in Syd exactly the one they show in melb? or do they record thre own. If its the same footage they use for both states then i understand why it contains 10mins of afl highlights and 30 sec of nrl highlights....but if melb news rec there own stuff, I cant understand the lack of nrl footage. Afl is the more popukar sport yes, but no1 in sydney gives a shit. Why do they show so much footage of that gay faggot boring sport in Syd?

FSN express, first 10 mins Abblet quitting Geelong, next 2 mins re stewart verdict, next 20sec footage of roosters training, 5 sec interview with mini jnr, and a mention of Idris attacked by sword. **** GAYFL....dont matter about the crowds, the majority of ppl in sydney dont give a flying ****. It is the most boring stupid sport in the world, am I the only one astonished as to how this sport gains any popularity/?

All i can say is it has the best marketting in the world, im sure the AFL pay big money to have all this air time....Nrl have the greatest game in the world, worst marketting in the world.

Depends on what network you're viewing.
10 has sport tonight, which is shown in all states.
They are an AFL network and subsequently show more AFL than NRL, 9 on the other hand are an NRL network in Syd and dont give AFL much time at all, whereas in Melb they show the AFL.
Oh I forgot 7 they are AFL as well so not much NRL there either.

The difference in the media presentation, IMO, is that many interstate people come to Sydney to work. If you just look at Sunrise, the only NSWelshman/woman there is Mel. Kochie is from Adelaide, Baretta from Melbourne, Nat & Simon are from WA I believe. So when it comes to presenting and interest from presenters, gAiFL is always on before NRL. Who the hell from Sydney wants to go and live in melboune and as for the other states, well most of the work is right here. So in the end, coverage of AFL in Sydney is influenced by Mexicans living here.

Swans = over 28,000 members and an average crowd in excess of 30,000. Think one or two people care.... and this not including members of other clubs based in Sydney.

30000 is abysmal. There is one AFL team in the city and 9 NRL teams. Not to mention the NRL is the superior television sport which is one of many reasons crowd attendances are so dwarfed by the AFL. The Gary Ablett story is absolutely MASSIVE news. Considering the channel is Aus wide I think 10 minute coverage is justifiable esp if they have Julian De Stoop or Stubbsy phoner/IV. NRL coverage will kick up very soon again with the GF breakfast. Theres only so many Chooks/St Choke preparation stories one can do...

Living in South Australia, I'm so happy i have foxtel because i wouldn't see anything on the roosters on Free to air. They will always show more on AFL because it has a bigger following!!
