  • Graham & Jaubs passed fit to play sunday

now its up to Smith to decide whether he goes for the experience and lack of go forward of Graham on the wing or the inexperienced but powerful Leilua.

also interesting to see Pearce at training carrying a tight hamstring which has bothered him over the last month, hopefully he can get one more first class performance out of his body before he rests for the off season.

I agree Leilua will offer us better grunt and hence better field position, St Merge also attack on their left which will be the side of Perrett/SKD.

pec injuries are usually much longer turn around than phils, i cant see how risking him getting injured first up is worth it

i'd put Leilua in the centres and Linnett/Graham on the wing but it will probably be: Linnett centre, Graham wing and Leilua bench

I wouldn't be moving Linnett at all, under no circumstances. The kid's been brilliant there. Moving him for the GF would be a disaster!

its the gf fitz. a backrower on the wing no matter how strong he is he is a big big liability. graham on the other hand has a wealth of experience and is pretty solid defensively on the wing. if he gets injured then sub BJ straight onto the wing - its no real loss - when BJ played from the bench in 17 last time he barely got anytime and nor did jaubs last week who was in effect filling the 'utility' spot on the bench so we can afford to carry him there and risk graham's injury worsening. the worst case scenario is he comes off injured and BJ ends up on the wing anyway. so what. graham must play

Excellent news. Add to the choices and gameplaying Smith will take part in.

i agree he's been brilliant, but leilua had ripped some teams apart at stages when linnett was injured and linnett has been winger before and coped well

so we play with 16 players? thats a bigger risk to me

how many minutes did jaubs play on the weekend? we can cope easily with 16 if worst comes to worst as we have a backrow that can go the 80 which essentially leaves 5 players to rotate 2 prop spots and maybe 1 of them to play an extra 10 to cover a 10min break for myles. no problems. i just think in a big game we need someone like graham who can defend much more strongly that leilua. he looked nervous and was poor positionally/under the high ball a few times - we were fortunate they only capitalised once/didnt have many more opportunities. graham is quicker for a start and will sure that up and like i said, if he gets injured 20mins in then leilua moves onto the wing and we are back where we started - graham will have had the exact same amount of game time as say jaubs would of if he had of played as the 'utility' with leilua on the wing from the outset and graham not selected so i think the 'risk' is being blown out of proporiton. im sure he wouldnt get passed fit if he could barely move his arm/tackle anyway

we both know this weekend will be nothing like last weekend. i think we'd be silly to risk a player with an easily exacerbated injury.

Gasnier would run rings around BJ on the wing. For all his shortcomings we need Graham out there to get rid of Saints one of three attacking options.
