THIS is a message for all our loyal Roosters fans out there that have given us copious amounts of support throughout the year.
The support you have given me and the team this year has been next to none.
I can vouch for every single player when I say the cheers and well wishes you give when we were down throughout a game pay dividends in picking us back up.
I can’t guarantee we will win the grand final but I can promise you this.
For the 80 minutes that we are out on that football field we will be giving it everything single thing we’ve got.
We will be playing for you guys; this is my thanks to you.
The belief that you’ve had in me and the well wishes are something I will forever hold dear to my heart and is something I will never be able to repay.
My past has been well documented and it isn’t the most glamorous but you never judged me and for me it’s been all about the future.
I mentioned in an earlier article I wrote for sportsnewsfirst.com.au that Mitchell Pearce, Braith Anasta, Jake Friend, Anthony Minichiello and I have put in a lot of extra hours perfecting the little things.
It’s no fluke what we do out on the field and Sunday afternoon will be no different.
This is the grandest stage of all, the reason you do the extras during the year, its boils down to this one game.
I can’t wait; I can’t remember the last time I have felt so excited.
Smithy (Brian Smith) has been given a lot of wraps in the past few weeks so I’m not going to wrap him up here, he knows how all the boys feel about him but I will say this.
I’ve never seen the man so relaxed which is a pleasing thing to observe as a player.
We have played the Dragons twice this year and were beaten both times but as the old saying goes, anything is possible in a grand final.
If we are fortunate enough to do the lap of honour it would be a dream come true looking around seeing the smiles on all your faces.
That’s the reward for a hard day’s work, applauding you fans and thanking you for all your support.
Nothing would be more pleasing to see you smiling back at us sharing an amazing moment.
So here’s to you the Roosters fans, on behalf of the side I thank you and I hope we can do you proud.
