  • My little bloke

His first Grand Final. My first since 2000. Our first together. Something my late father could not do with me.

I felt we'd lose, until I saw us outplay them in the first half. Our hopes were high. But you know the rest.

Im glad I went. Im gladder I took the little bloke to his first with me. Hopefully teh first of many.

He was sad after the game. I was angry. But the walk back to the station, we both looked at each other and when he started waving his flag like we won the ****ing thing and there was no tomorrow, it put a smile on my face.

We have another life long Rooster. Someone that will drink the poison and move n. A special breed.

Someone that will enjoy the good tmes, when they come around.

    My boy.

Im proud of him. A champion in every way. Head up. Respect. Gives as good as he gets. Has the hunger to look forward to next year. Proud of that emblem on his jersey.

    Go my son.

    Go Easts.

Kids give us a reality check when we least expect it.

On the way home on the train, my little nephew looks at me, smiles, and says 'we will get them next year don't worry'. My shitty mood got a little brighter.

Still numb. It is still to fully sink in, but the boys did us proud this year

                Bring on 2011

It is funny how kids sometimes provide us a good example that we should follow a little more.

Following a team should be a life long commitment. I am glad my 2 kids 13 and 9 are in for the long haul.

My son is 8. He was very upset about yesterday. He was angry & confused.

                        Just like me.

He woke me at 7.30am this morning to discuss who we had lost for next year & who we would replace them with to make sure we'd win next next. He told me that because Carney, Pearce, Maubs, SKD, JWH, Linnett, Myles, Friend were all on long term contracts he was positive we'd win one very soon.

If he has hope, then I have hope.

We will win it next year. Nothing is surer.

You guys are so lucky...my teenage daughter called me a sore loser when I got home and complained that although we lost the ref's had blundered big time...wait till she asks me for money...we'll see who's a sore loser...

I won't talk to her for weeks now...
