I heard the Tigpies were after him but Uncle Nick won't release him. I'm sure Louie and Lazerus are glad he is going.

Are you talking about Akinson or Miller?

Miller. Not sure why they would need him. They have Benji at 5/8 and Robert Louie half with Blake Lazarus as their up and coming half.

Anyway, has he actually signed because he is contracted to us for 2011?

I don't understand the Tigpies move either....he'll be behind Benji, Lui, Moltzen, Lazarus and perhaps even Waters - he's more chance of progressing through the NYC and Newtown here.

correction, lui and lazarus will be behind him. their problem is that since prince left, they have lacked a half that can give them direction and free up benji to do his thing. this is what miller can provide. i dont really rate lazarus and lui is more of a 5/8 imo so perfectly valid reason for them to want him. do you think he has more chance with us behind carney and pearce?

do you not think that atkinson is a stand-out then? this is how i see our backrow stocks in terms of retention.

We have atkinson, cordner, leilua, lowe, eshman, goodwin, cherrington, symonds, maubs.

maubs, symonds, leilua and cornder should all definitely be retained. cornder and leilua because they are superstars/the cream of the crop; symonds mainly because he is a local boy and bleeds RWB therefore he would never leave and will provide us with good depth at least although i do believe he has the potential to play rep footy and maubs because he has already proven himself at firstgrade and is too valuable to our team. Therefore between atkinson, cherrington and lowe i think we need to chose one to keep. i think those 3 are all better than eshman and goodwin so unless they decide to hang around and play for newtown, we should not force them to stay.

atkinson is still young and raw but very capable. splitting him and lowe is difficult and the first task. then it will come down to whether cherro is better than either of the other two. that im not sure about either. cherro has real potential but hasnt really shown any consistency as yet with us whereas lowe and atkinson though young, are far more consistent performers

Dane Atkinson is better than Ethan Lowe, mark my words. Lowe has had an outstanding season culminating in his well deserved selection in the Junior Kangaroos. Based on this year's NYC form by Lowe, he will have one spot secured in the backrow with Boyd Cordner and Nick Eshman filling the other two NYC backrow spots in the 13. But by the end of the season, I really do think Dane Atkinson will be our number one backrower along with Boyd Cordner.

Goodwin will edge out all of them with maybe the exception of Lowe.

He has the heart and mentality that the others don't.

He will start in the 20s backrow next year and I'm confident will play first grade the year after.

Saw Atkinson today a BDogs trial. He's the biggest thing on 2 legs, looks a lot like a young Ryles/Clyde. Is having calf problems by the look of the rub down he was getting. His front on tackling is scarey, needs to get more ball in attack. Lowe looked very good, consistent without being dynamic. His defense is solid and he has a good offload. Lowe seems very flexible and injury free-touch wood. Saw Cordner, he's no where near as tall as Lowe/Atkinson, probably more of a lock build. Haven't seen Cordner play for a few years, hopefully he gets back, his patience is inspirational.

                      BT's Thread

BT, thank god you are not a selector, Justin carney will quickly develop into the best winger in the club, and is a shoe in for one wing position, to me Kane Linnett lost alot of ground late last season, he is under pressure to hold his spot, not too sure about other centre prosects at the club as yet, but for me Mitch Aubusson, needs to be one centre as soon as he is back playing.

                      Cheers.......Burnt Rooster.

                          1. Anthony Minichiello
                          2. Phil Graham/ BJ Leilua
                          3. Kane Linnett
                          4. SKD
                          5. Sam Perrett
                          6. Todd Carney
                          7. Mitchell Pearce
                          8. Jason Ryles
                          9. Jake Friend
                          10. Frank-Paul Nu'uausala
                          11. Nate Myles
                          12. Mitchell Aubusson
                          13. Braith Anasta

                          Interchange:
                          14. Martin Kennedy
                          15. JWH
                          16. Mose Masoe
                          17. Anthony Watts/ BJ Leilua

BJ Leilua has to be in the team somewhere, as does Mose Masoe. Justin Carney was a pointless signing and isn't needed. Sydney Roosters 2011!

J carney wing, and now Cherro's injured leilua could end up in the back row.

I did this team long before the trials (just after the GF in fact) so I was just going on the fact that Justin Carney had been out for a while and isn't as fit. My new one that I posted after Saturday's trial is better and updated.

                                13. Nuuausala

                                14. Riddell
                                15. Leilua
                                16. Hargreaves
                                17. Kennedy

Watts, Graham and Aubusson, when fit, can replace Riddell, Linnett/Carney and Symonds respectively. Conn and Masoe are the most unlucky to miss out - I included Symonds as he is a similar style of player to Aubusson, a linebreaking fringe runner with a good catch-and-pass on the opposite style of the field to Braith, and wouldn't detract much from the team makeup in Aubusson's absence.
