Canberra maybe, but there's nothing to suggest Penrith or the Titans will be on the slide, and Parramatta will be on the up

Penrith are going to have to come up with something other than 5 surges and a bomb. It got them through the first round but their 2nd half of the season was less than inspiring. They will also lose Pritchard and Gavin Cooper, two of their better forwards as well as Wade Graham. I suppose on the plus side, they surely can't have the run of injuries that crueled them in the finals, but you never know.

Parramatta will certainly improve under Kearney. Titans should be thereabouts, but gee their squad is looking old. They have a bit of a Bulldogs 2010 feel about their squad.

How about that they slid to seven losses from their last 11 games in 2010 after sides figured out they only scored from kicks.

it's drawing a long bow to suggest that the fact that we only get to play Penrith once next season is a bad thing for us

Hence why I never drew that bow, simply provided some evidence that Penrith were on the slide (based on form & player movement).

I'm not sold on Parramatta. Their halves are average at best, their forwards soft, and have lost their only attack minded forward.

Agreed. Keating was their best half and the dogs made them think they were after Mortimer Now they are after Orford or Gower. Plus Mateo says it wasn't the coach the players had a problem with. Desperate times for the Eels.

Vasco - any late mail for tomorrow?

There is a horse called QUARTERBAR running in the Caulfield Guineas.

Probably can't win tomorrow but is a very good horse in the making.

DRUMBEATS could knock off the favourite in the Toorak Handicap.

Intersting to compare the dragons draw to ours. There are 23 rounds(ignoring round 1 and the 2 byes for each team) when a team can follow a particular team. However we dont know who with certainty wil be strong. So maybe a better comparison is how often does your opponent have a hard or easy game the week before playing you ? Well it turns out the dragons play opponents 11 times where their opponents have an away game the week before playing them (usually tougher for their opponents). Conversely a team that has bye before playing you may be fresher. That occurs once for the dragons. For the roosters we play teams that had an away game before playing us only 9 times and 3 teams have a bye before playing us the Sharks cowboys and Warriors. On that basis the dragons have 4 potentially easier opponents in their draw.

Thanks mate. I'll keep an eye out for Quarterbar. Should be an interesting story on how it got its name.

Will be better suited to Flemington.

                                Quarterbar next prep for sure.

Mangonui at Cranbourne today. Was ridden upside down last start. Some rain about which will help it even more.
