  • Best and Worst buys of the year

    For mine:

    BEST:
1/ Todd Carney by a mile - Transformed the wooden spooners to grand finalsts.
2/ Sam Burgess - An absolute bargain at $150K and hard to believe he is only 21. Also hard to believe his Mum earns twice as much for doing nothing.
3/ Brian Smith - Transformed the wooden spooners to grand finalsts.

    WORST:
1/ Justin Poore - from NSW starting prop to the bench for the Eels.
2/ Willy Mason - seems to pack the wooden spoon in his bags wherever he goes.
3/ Mark Gasnier - Purely because of the irony of kicking a team out for salary cap breaches and allowing an international to be included under the Dragons cap for $50K. Talk about the NRL bringing its own game into disrepute.

Adam Cuthbertson for the sharks would have to be there for worst signings, went from playing in a great Manly pack, to only playing 10 games all season and spending the rest in NSW cup for Cronulla.

I loved Cayless in the RWB but I completely forgot he was back in the NRL.

A mate of mine that goes for Wests laughed at us when we signed Ryles and they got Cayless.

Carney, Ryles for us, Burgess for Souths. Seymour did well for the Warriors.

Worst: yup, Mason by a mile.

I actually thought Mason had a good year, I know his team didn't perform well but it certainly wasn't because of him... they've been an average side for a few years now.

Certainly one of the better buys considering we payed out half his contract.

I'm sure Rusty has many many millions all over the world. I'd rather be paid in euro far far away from Shuey and then Mummy dear will give Sammy a lovely gift upon his return.
