  • Would Crocker returning to us be beneficial

"Fat Controller" Richardson has denied offloading Michael Crocker to the Roosters in order to free up some much needed funds to acquire greedy Inglis.

If true, what are your thoughts on him returning to us for a swansong? Some points to consider:
Coach Smith vs Crocker. Given Crocker's playing style, is he the type of player Brian would want in his team for his reknown aggression & committment or would his lack of discipline be counter-productive.
Injuries. He hardly played much this year continually breaking down. Would he be a liability even coming off our bench?
Leadership, toughness and experience. He certainly ticks all the boxes here. Seems to have mellowed down as well since settling down & becoming a dad. Lives at Maroubra which is convenient too.
Going to the ESL. Is not an option after pommie authorities denied him visa entry in 2009. I reckon clubs like Manly, Knights, Cowgirls & Parra will be interested. Don't discount St George either to stiffen their defence after the departure of Justin Smith & Costigan.
Could come cheap for 2011. Depending on the release terms negotiated by Fatso and his new club.

For mine, i would very much welcome Michael back. Our youngsters could learn plenty from his leadership, experience & uncompromising, never give up attitude.

Absolute best case would be to play Crocker off the bench and get 20 minutes out of him per game.

We already have forward leaders in Ryles, Myles and Anasta. We also have an abundance of backrowers. We also have players to fill the 'enforcer' role with JWH, Myles and Mose.

IMO, Crocker was a great player, but his body has given up on him. He should be looking at a captain-coach role somewhere in the Country league.

No thanks, there'll already be enough classy backrowers sitting in reserves next season.

ESL probably dumb enough to buy him

Can't get a visa, whole reason he signed with Souths in the first place.

                      Crocker

A definate no to Crocker, he is goneski as far as NRL is concerned, we got the best out of him, them shipped him on. He would be of no value at all to us at all at this stage of his career.

I would like us to keep an eye on Lawrence from West Tigers, how good would would he be, in the centre's with SKD, not sure of his contract status, but Noycey would have some inside running, on having a chat to him.

Ingliss another fat black fella at Souths, cant wait till we tangle with them in round one, next season.

he's now exceeded the 5 year "spent" timeframe since his conviction and could reapply

While it would be great to have mudguts back, i think he would be surplus to needs, unless he wants to play for newtown.

Great player but now past his best plus we don't need another backrower. Simple.
