    New Year injury update

    17/01/2011 3:00:00 PM

The Sydney Roosters full time squad have been back in preseason training for a couple of weeks now since their New Year break, see who is back after recovering from post season operations.

    Anthony Watts
Sydney Roosters new recruit Anthony Watts has torn his anterior cruciate ligament and will be sidelined for six months. The injury occurred during a pre-season training drill, where Watts was holding tackling pads and when forced back felt his knee go under him. Watts will be aiming for a return midway through the 2011 season.

    Mitchell Aubusson
After completing his breakthrough season in the NRL months ago, Mitchell Aubusson will have to wait until round 4 of 2011 to pick up from where he left off. The Roosters backrower underwent a left shoulder reconstruction on an injury he carried for the most part of this season. He is currently doing light rehabilitation and is participating in non-contact training drills.

    Phil Graham
Roosters winger Phil Graham will also be sidelined until the early rounds of 2011 as he recovers from surgery on his ruptured pectoral muscle. After being cruelly denied a chance to feature in the NRL Grand Final the Roosters flyer is still doing non contact drills.

    Kane Linnett
Roosters rookie Kane Linnett has started running in preseason training as he recovers from a groin injury. The versatile back underwent an adductor release after the grand final.

    Mose Masoe
The Roosters front rower is back in full training after having a clean out of his AC Joint in the right shoulder.

    Aidan Guerra
Guerra’s NRL career was brought to a halt in round 10 because of a stack of previous injuries but his latest operation will ensure he is back in full training after recovering from a clean out of his AC Joint.

    Jonathon Ford
The versatile back had patella stabilisation surgery and is back in full training.

    Brad Takairangi
Takairangi is another hopeful back in full training after recovering from left ankle surgery.

I thought Guerra played most of the season with the Jets?

Thanks for the updated information Fletch. Lets hope there are no more injuries before Round 1 and the boys continue to heal well.

DALLY M medallist Todd Carney will miss eight weeks of the pre-season after he undergoes groin surgery on Wednesday.

The Roosters said today their star five-eighth had scans on his groin which indicated he needs surgery.

He is expected to take eight weeks to recover from the surgery, ruling him out of the All Stars game and all of the Roosters' trial matches.

However the Roosters expect Carney to be fit for their first game of the season, against the Rabbitohs.

I wonder if this is a very recent injury. Otherwise it would make you wonder why it wasn't picked up earlier.

May need all that depth in the backrow if Anasta shifts to 5/8 to cover for Carney and Maubs out for the early rounds.

If FPN and Myles both play in the backrow in the early rounds, we could have a massive pack, though lose a lot in the skill department.
