Let's throw a spanner in the works and say Friend gets injured.

i think we have the depth across the park to field strong sides even if injuries come into it but i think the major concern revolves around team balance. Most crucially, i think maubs and anasta in the backrow leaves too much pressure and workload on the other backrower (likely to be either myles or FPN). For this reason, i think maubs and anasta should play together down the left edge, one in the backrow and one at centre. Id be most inclined to have maubs playing outside braith primarily because he has played plenty of centre. Together they can share the workload associated with playing backrow and in attack give us an extra dimension. This essentially frees up an additional backrow spot for someone that will offer a higher workrate in attack and defence - pretty much the same logic used by bennett when he had beau scott in the centres playing outside creagh who like anasta is in the more mobile widerunning backrower prototype. With carney or linnett to offer speed and strike power from the wing i think it should serve us well in attack. dont forget that one of the perks of having the best halves in the comp and particularly carney is that they can make average players around them look like superstars so its not like we need a superstar left centre at least short-term

        15. JWH
        16. Cherrigton/Leilua/Symonds
        17. Friend

My only issue with that side is the potential lack of mobility in the backrow by having myles and FPN both playing there together but i think that side presents the best balance for us across the forwards and in the backline.

For when anasta is released/retires, if like to see leilua play left centre and aubusson move in one into left side backrow so that the left edge can operate much like it will with anasta and maubs as the centre/backrow combination.
