It isnt Easts shopping him around its Anastas manager and his people doing the groundwork, Easts have said if you receive an offer you cant refuse you are free to go, I dont really see what all the fuss is about, uts not about 2011, its 2012 and beyond, the bloke has squillions of dollars, money is not an issue for the bloke.

The only issue for Anasta is if he is happy playing second fiddle at lock to the halves where at another club he may be the goto guy, money will not come into it.

Even reiterated in the articles today...

You got it in one... This was about Braith's management trying to capitalize when his stocks were at their highest.. Braith has had some good seasons and average ones at the Roosters for various reasons and his manager would know this is his last chance for a big pay packet and does not want to risk his clients form tapering off or injury early on in 2011. He wants the deal done now..

The way I see it, Easts have decided that Braith is no longer worth marquee money and cannot afford it and still be able to retain up and comers who will command sizeable upgrades ie; Kennedy, SKD, Pearce etc and not to mention our considerable depth in the backrow..

With the club seeing a guy like Boyd Cordner as a corner stone of the pack and given that he is a back rower with guys like Maubs, Myles, Conn, Tasi (rated as a better prospect than JWH), Symonds, Cherrington, FPN all backrowers with their best years ahead of them it is difficult to justify a large pay packet to a guy who would have an inferior work rate to almost all of them, albeit with obviously better playmaking ability.

So Easts have given Braith permission to look elsewhere, almost calling his bluff.. They expect he wouldn't get a deal elsewhere on what he is asking and if Parramatta and the Cowboys, 2 clubs in dire need of a 5/8 and underperforming in 2010 are not willing to give him the coin he is after it is no scoop that Braith is contemplating a paycut.. He simply doesn't have a choice unless he wants to go to the UK but the pound's strength is not what it use to be and tax loopholes are being closed.

I noticed some are comparing Braith's situation to Fitzy but the major difference is that Fitzy's last couple contracts were one year deals that the club offered him after making him wait until other players were signed on bigger deals. He didn't conduct negotiations via the press and took the paycut's which were not really deserved and carried on about his work..

I think the decision to give the story were a plan by Braith's manager to embarress the club into signing Braith on the terms requested or very close to and get the deal sorted as quickly as possible.. I am not sure though that Nick Politis would have been too impressed though reading the papers over cornflakes.. I would not be surprised at all if he instructs the club to cease all negotiations indefinitely being the hard ****d bastard he can be.. Craig Wing and Ryan Cross can vouch for that.

Cockadoodle does makes a lot of sense. I love Anasta and don't want him gone and did sign the petition but I hate the going to the Media bit to make the point. His manager would have done this.

I can see the logic in the move by the Club. There are a number of young up & coming players that they want to sign to long term contracts. They are basing their future on youngsters like Kennedy, SKD, Carney, Leilua and Pearce. Unfortunately Braith is on a marquee players money & he is no longer the marquee player.

If he takes a paycut I'd love to see him stay. Otherwise I'll thank him for his efforts & hope he gets a big money deal in the UK.

THis is exactly the situation. Whilst the media reports will bag Smith and the club at the chance, it's also a matter of what is important for Braith Anasta? Is he prepared to take a massive paycut to stay at this club? Alternatively, does he want to secure a long term agreement and be financially rewarded. Ricko, Fitzy and Mini would never play against the roosters. That's club loyalty. The only club that has expressed public interest is North Cowboys, and they are desparate for players. Parramatta said no. Sharks? In harsh economic terms, demand and supply says Braith is no longer worth what he is on now and he too will decide his loyalty to the club.

I just love how the daily tellucrap twists things and glosses over or conveniently leaves out important facts in their agenda against us!

Steve Noyce was quoted as saying that he wants to wait a couple of months before getting into contract negotiations with Anasta.

The daily tellucrap doesn't make any real mention of this FACT, instead they like to focus on their spin of things to stir up $hit amongst us, making out that we are totally shutting the door on Anasta without any hope of us keeping him..
