In hindsight I blame Smith for not asserting himself...
Cherro corked his knee and the doctor said "probably best to rest mate just incase." Smith agreed and Cherro said "no, I want more game time, I need the practice!!!"

Turned into an ACL rupture. Connected or not I have no idea (I'm not a doctor and have never even met Cherro) but I think it was dumb to play with a corked leg unless it is a grand final or something. Even then all I can think back to is the Titans and the Riff during the last finals. Both played with injured teams. Both ended up getting thrashed and pushing injured players back even further (who saw Scott Prince last night? Yeah the guy in casual clothes sitting it out with an injury...)

I know this is all hindsight...etc, but Smith should have asserted "mate... no... it's a trial and I as the coach have the responsibility to say no because you are injured. You've done well and lets end on a positive note."

Corked leg... what if he got a heamatoma or something and ended up blowing out his quad or something. They should ban pain killing injections IMO... corked leg in lower grades means you are out for a week while it recovers. 1st grade they just pump you up with juice and let you play.

    Rant rant rant...

What if he got concussed and after the game walked out in front of a bus ......

I really feel for the kid, but this thread is getting silly.
I hope he gets through this and comes back and eventually gets a chance to show he can play.
The Internet is a place for posting silly things
Try and be serious and you will look stupid

Does this mean the NRL will deduct his wage from the salary cap, assuming he will be out for the season ?

Prince played and had a decent game. I think you mean Campbell.

Thats what SHOULD happen, but thats not the rules.

A club should be able to replace a player under the cap if the player doesn't play a game in the whole season.

If this was the rule though, the Roosters would have to concede that the player can not strap on a boot for the club even if he makes a quicker than estimated recovery.

That's a huge if. Not many have come back from two knee reco's, Nick Kosef, Brett Firman, Matthew Head, non of them made successful comebacks from multiple knee ops.

I was shattered for the guy last night when Gus mentioned it on air and the one thing he has going for him is his youth in regards to the physical recovery. But it'll be the mental scars he'll have to overcome as well and they are far tougher for a young bloke.

                      Chook.

                        Jesus, I can't believe it.

That's the end of his career, I would imagine.

He's still very young. He can make it back. There are plenty of AFL midfielders who do a lot more running, twisting and turning then a second rower does that make it back and have successful careers!

                            Thanks for that insight champ.

                            Prince played last night.

What goes around comes around I reckon. Think about it - his footy career has been basically farked since his knife wielding moments of madness. Who knows when it will come good.

Hopefully he can come out the other side of this and actually play a season of solid footy, but it won't be easy after a reco on each knee.

Look on the bright side Cherrington's missed opprotunity will mean an opportunity for another young bloke to strut his stuff.

And it's not as if Cherrington is an integral part of our squad. He hasn't played much footy the past 2 seasons.

Is he off contract at the end of the year? If so, it will be interesting to see if he is re-signed, given there's been no return on investment for a few years now, and he will be a risky signing with two bung knees. Remember, we have a number of blokes off contract and only a certain amount of salary cap available.
