You can't just keep defending people who embarrass the club either just because they signed to play a season or two. This Watts dude hasn't even worn a Roosters jersey and he is already under scrutiny. Wasn't it exciting enough in Townsville that he had to come to Sydney to make an arse of himself, especially after Carney? This guy has NOW, a lot to prove in my opinion.
Nowhere have I defended the actions of Carney or Watts. I am talking about standing up for your club against biased, agenda driven dribble that spews forth from the likes of Hadley and Rothfield.
One is but not really ... he is but better known for his antics at the Dogs. Actually, all 3 have played for the 'Dogs at some point. The other 2 are notorious as well. Let me just say the association of these 3 will, let's say, add to the notion of "where there's smoke there's fire ... "
The latest incidents involving Carney and Watts has put the NRL under huge pressure to take action against the club.
Don't tell me this prick doesn't have an agenda. Every article/blog he writes on us demands action against the club or player. Building the hysteria for all the non roosters supporters.
Last year when Gallop gave Stewart 4 weeks they bag him for being reactive and not showing the player any support. When it comes to the roosters, they must go to gaol and the club must be punished.

This fool should have started life in a condom.
Funny you say that Buddy......I actually said something similar on my Facebook page yesterday! Although mine went along the lines of....''Fair dinkum beetroot face, your old man should have pulled out and blown on the sheets''
Great minds and all....
This rag of a paper are agenda dribbling substanceless pricks, we all know this. The worst was logging into facebook this moning and having a smug dragons "friend" post one of their opinion peices about how the "immaculate" dragons didn't drink once in england because they're champions and how Todd carney "the mug" stole their thunder and can't be trusted. I am still trying to supress the upcoming bile.
But this shit has got to stop. Whatever they do, from the smallest drinking or misbehaving incidents to the biggest ones, and we have both, they know what kind of coverage it will get. Anymore of this 'no punishment' 'slap on the wrist' shit is just deterimental to the club. It seems to be coming from people who were not here in 09. Get tough on them or show them the door, the club will be better in the long run for it. But it has to stop NOW because this is beyond embarassing and there just can't be a repeat of 09. Ever again.
Watts would of done something wrong to be evicted from a hotel. He also has a poor record on the drink. Most fair minded people would admit that he has done something wrong here.
Having said that the article is still mud raking gutter journalism at it's best.
TOK answer me these questions.
How can Watts be described as a "senior player" when he has never played a game for the club?
How can the incident be described as a "serious alcohol-related incident" when he wasn't even charged by police?
When did this incident happen? It's a bit strange that comes out this week. Wasn't it newsworthy when the incident happened?
You accuse people for being "deluded" or "one eyed", perhaps you would be treated with more respect if you gave a more balanced view.
1) senior player, star player, who farkin cares what label they put on him. Given his NRL experience and the fact that he's been around the traps a bit, I think he can be referred to as a "senior player". But you're nitpciking and missing the point
2) I've seen plenty of "serious alcohol related incidents" at pubs which haven't resulted in police charges. The pub rang Noyce to lodge a formal complaint. These was an incident. He didn't forget his crutches...
3) I don't know when it happened, but again, who farkin cares? Maybe it came to light when they were investigating what happened with Carney. The point is, the pub rang Noyce to lodge a complaint. Watts has clearly been out of order. Watts is letting his new club down, the club that you support, and all you want to do is bag the paper that reports it? League (or AFL, or cricket or whatever) players on the piss and getting into strife is news for sports fans. Whether it's Hayne or Benji or Watts or Sandow or whoever
I dont defend Rothfield - I think he gets plenty wrong. His never ending attacks on Smith are embarrassing. But his articles are opinion peices in a League dominated paper that are designed, in part, to get people to argue with him.
If you want to argue with him go ahead
I'm more concerned with Roosters players ****ing up the club
Newspapers are meant to deliver facts.
Forums are for opinions.
No wonder that sports editor Rothfield is classed as a hack.No one wants his biased agenda driven opinion.

Having been on the receiving end of these opinions in the past from various sources, they are certainly aimed at inciting debate and generating traffic on websites and selling newspapers.
The problem is however, they are aimed at the mental midgets that typically read the tabloids who take them as fact. Then as a supporter, quite often knowing the truth, you are left to deal with people giving you shit about stuff they have little knowledge about except they read it in a newspaper and believe it.
Newspapers these days, more than ever, are just about getting people to buy them so they can sell more advertising. There is no relationship with the truth or facts, however, they need to take some responsibility for the information that they put out. Regardless of whether they are opinions or not. The average punter just doesn't have the capacity to discriminate.

1) I still maintain labelling Watts a "senior player" considering he hasn't played a game for the club is incorrect.
2) I never said he "forgot the crutches" I actually said he more than likely did something wrong. I think to call it a "serious alcohol related incident" when no charges were laid is still an exaggeration.
3) I think when it happened is important to the discussion. I have no doubt if the Carney incident didn't happen there wouldn't be a full page spread on a player like Watts.
Also I don't bag the paper or Rothfield all the time. I understand the job they are paid to do. I mean Rothfield the last few years is pretty much just there to stir the pot. This week it's Easts, next week it will be the Dragons and the week after it will be Brian Smith.
It's good to see you admit he get's plenty wrong but I still think your views can still be heavily slanted at times.
Finally I agree, I'm concerned about the players ****ing up the club as well. If the players did nothing wrong there would be nothing to report. It gives me the shits that after the great season last year we are heading into the comp with this hanging over our heads.

But who cares about the incident, why report about it anyway. If the same thing happened to some other player from another club, i couldn't give a flying fcuk. Players have a social life too, they choose to drink whatever amount they like. At the end of the day they compromise their fitness/health status.
TOK, you're right about one thing. Rothfield IS an embarrasment!!!!
I hope for God's sake his teenage kids don't follow his footsteps and become pissheads because mud sticks.
Meanwhile, good morning to the 3 ex-footballers, 2 of them will be ex-footballers shortly anyway, thrown out of Star City yesterday. If there was a brain between them they would be keeping a low profile. Congratulations boys, in particular, the 2 who could do without the "publicity" let alone being seen in public together.
