  • Key to Friday night

Without Carney in the halves we are not going to be as slick as we may have been. The match will be more of a grind.

The key is to stay in front or with them for the first 20 minutes of each half. They will come out pumped and hope to establish a lead.

Most of their key players haven't played any football for over 6 months. They will tire at the back end of each half.

If they get to a lead early on it may be difficult for us to reel them in. We won't have the luxury of our key player to play catch up football.

We need to stay with them early in each half and grind our way in front. Patience is the key.

Pearce needs to play a clever game. He needs to be composed, organising his forwards and kicking away from their back three giving the chase team time to pin them down.

If we can keep the penalties to a minimum (will be tough considering the stats over the past 5 years) and control the ball, we will have a greater chance of wearing them down.

    Easts to win.

the key will be the Roosters defence, especially in the middle

we can win, but without Carney we're not entitled to be favourites

Another key is that Mini keeps well away from trying to play a 5/8 role. He had no idea against the Tigers.

The other key (and not only for this game) is for Kennedy and Masoe to take the step up. If they can match Ryles in workload and metres gained that will go a long way in winning us many games. Pearce will be able to do his magic easier if these two and Ryles dominate up the middle.

Hit Sutton hard and early so he goes missing for the rest of the match..

He can be dangerous if he gets on a roll..

Souffs halves are complete shit. They will be relying exclusively on their "best pack in the comp" to give their halves enough space to throw the ball to Inglis. They have all the attacking options of the French!

Our pack can match theirs. Roosters by 16+.

          Chook.

I just hope our boys don't turn up thinking they are just going to pick up from last season.

We got on a roll last year and we had great confidence it won't be easy to replicate that form at the start of the season.

For me the key to us in any game is defence. If we defend well we will beat most teams in this league.

No mention of Greg Hartley's love child Mr Archer ? He will have a bearing on the result as always.
Interesting stat this morning Roosters have only won the whistle 33 times in 5 years considering from a possible 140 games or so .

My opinion for what it's worth.......
I'm expecting coach Smith's tactics to be of a similar nature to Rd 1 2010 when our little men tired out their bigger men. That set the platform for our points spree.
Luke Stuart hasn't played since mid last year. Returning from injury.
Ben Ross has played a couple of games in almost 2-3 yrs.
Burgess and "Pig Dog features" Taylor are coming back from injuries.

They all lack match fitness and timing.

you must be so disillusioned with Rugby League to have the referees down as the key to the game

I don't know why you front up each week and put yourself through the agony if that's what you honestly think

I'd go find a sport where I was happy with the officiating if I was you

You reckon and you must be ignorant of all refs high error counts.
Plenty would agree for me the only blotch on the game is the standard of referees which has dropped alarmingly over the past few years.
referees arent my agony only sticklers like you who can only supply a personal attack.
I could give you a good answer why we got hammered and I bet that changes this year for an obvious reason.
Besides mt two bobs worth was tongue and cheek but you obviously dont get it.
So dont think hard and just ignore

                            Exactly!
Perret, then BJ, SKD out of dummy half....keep their big men going backwards and working then the gaps will open up.

With the new rules, and Archer under instructions to police them, I'd hazard a guess that we will be penalized quite a few times in this department
