If you want to reign in JWH's aggression we may as well rip up his contract because that is his playing style and the exact reason that we signed him!! sure he needs to be a bit smarter about when he chooses to be aggressive (i.e. not give away stupid penalties) but he is only going to improve and i guarantee you that opposition teams do not like playing against him

then why not put another half back on the bench incase Pearce goes down?
or another full back incase Mini goes down? You cant have players on the bench incase....Guys on there bench have there own roles, piggys role seems to be very basic dummyhalf work for 15-20mins. Surely if Friend realy needs a breather some1 can step into dummy half, like Crock used to.

Needs to improve his discipline but he was pretty devastating last night I thought.

It's only the first game of the season, so we should cut the players some slack . If he continues to have poor discipline over the next couple of weeks then he should be dropped. I thought he played really well despite of the silly penalties he gave away.

The worry about this bench is who do FPN and Symonds come on the field for? MAubs and Braith play 80 so it's kind of pointless to have both on the bench. FPN interchanges with Nate and Symonds is just sort of cover incase anyone goes down? Piggy was the clear weak link, but the game turned when Friend, JWH and Masoe came on so I suspect Brian will stick with those 3 on the bench. So it looks like Symonds is gone which blows

It's a tough call but we have a long season ahead of us with rep fixtures he will get many chances.

I understand what your saying by you can't have a bench player every position. But i think you need piggy there because Friend's workload is huge in a 60min performance let alone 80min. He will be burnt out half way through the season!!

I think you could find someone to fill in every position as cover EXCEPT hooker ( and prob half) if Riddell is left out. Yeah sure someone can run in there for a bit but theres a reason every team has a hooker rather than another running forward.

Mose is the junior forward onthe rotation & may well be the one to miss out.

At the moment Conn is a better proposition.

Long term JWH will be the icing on the forward pack. Only the Raiders are bigger and tougher right now.

I love JWH... but everybody (including the NZ selectors) seems to forget he's really young and has only played league for what... 2 years or something? Last year was his first year of NRL.

He's only a Kiwi international because he played union for Australia (quite rightly... he grew up in QLD and then played for the Tah's... all at a junior level of course.) He wasn't ready to play international footy (as demonstrated by his fights with the big boys that made headlines), the Kiwi's just wanted to lock him in as a Kiwi international because he was most likely to play for Australia when ready. He's gotta be the first NYC player selected to play for a major RL country?

I think many of his instincts still reflect union instincts (especially with his tackling and associated plays.) He'll learn, but in my mind this explains why he gets penalized a lot. All comes down to inexperience with the code...

There were a few bullshit penalties tonight. Some against the Roosters, some against the inbreds.

JWH is a psycho and I love him. If he had hit Isaac Luke he would be up for a murder charge so the shaping up bullshit was just that.

We have experienced cover in EVERY other position.
Fullback: Perrett (Maubs shifts to centre, Linnett to wing)
Halves: Anasta to five-eighth

If Piggy is left out and Friend goes down is there anyone else in the team with any credentials as a dummy-half?
