If Piggy is left out and Friend goes down is there anyone else in the team with any credentials as a dummy-half?
Touch wood it doesn't happen but realistically, what are the chances of that happening? How many main dummy halves went down in all games last year? Actually go back as far as you can. That is not a reason to have someone on the bench for 60/65 minutes of the game until Watts is ready. We are playing with a 3 man bench for that period. If worse comes to worse, we can adjust. Put Anasta, Pearce, Sydmonds, Perrett there. Train someone for that worse case scenario. I agree that Anasta, Maubs and Symonds on at the same time is difficult but again, we just change the game plan to suit that. They can all offer plenty at different points of the game.

A big part of yesterday's win was the impact we had off the bench with Masoe, JWH and Symonds. We can't change that. We definately can't replace a big man with a small man and Symonds offers so much more than Anasta in attack but we won't drop Anasta. IMO it is a no brainer. Piggy should drop off. Train someone up to take that dummy half spot for 15 minutes if Friend can't play 80 minutes. But who says he can't have the same impact from the start of the game than he does from the 20 minute mark? He is one tough bugger.

It's not the only reason. I was responding to the Pimp's hypothetical about an injury at fullback or in the halves.

he needs to grow up and learn to channel his agression.. he is devastating at his best but he is becoming too costly giving away stupid unnesecary penalties, expecially at crucial times.. honestly he tries to pick a fight with half the other team.. he should be playing for newtown until he improves his disiplne... we have enough enforcers in kennedy and mose to continue the agression..

i no he has a big heart and is passionate about what does but he needs to find that right balance between the two.. ffs the kid is barley 20 he has a long way to go and a big career ahead of him. hopefully in the red white and blue

bring in conn for him until he is ready
if it was'nt for the JWH, Mose and Jake's injection - we would have lost last night . Those three turned the game for us .

Great effort up against one of the best packs in the game

...but yes, he does give away penalties

For some reason I don't think Riddell would be signed to play for Newtown round 2..

I'd drop Riddell move Symonds to the utility role and leave Masoe, JWH and FPN on the bench. As far as I'm concerned, JWH brings far more to the side than any problems he may cause. If any forward needs to be dropped then it's Ryles. I thought he was really poor the other night. And he has a penalty or three in him as well.

I was using hb and fb as a general example. Buddy is spot on. You cant afford a man on the bench who does near bugger all for 65min incase of a rare worst case scenatio.

he played well tonight, awesome runs, good hits, but he goes abit too far some time's, do we drop him? idk, it depends on his attitude and how he will take it, Not all players will react to that.
I told shaun this on thurday evening, and asked him to try and settle the big unit a bit......

I remember a time when Fletch and the boys had to yell out settle every time Morely took a hitup......it worked a treat most plays.....

Difficult call... I think Ryles made nearly the most metres and tackles on the night with no penalties... I had no issues with Ryles.
