  • Carney's Groin

Attention grabbing headline I know, but I have to say this injury scares me heaps.

Everyone knows he picked it up at the end of last year and tried to struggle through it before going under the knife in January. But groin injuries are farkedddd, Johnsy carried one for about two years and they so easily become chronic (osteitis pubis etc).

I reckon he should sit out for as long as it takes to get it 100% right, every time he looked like he was shaping up this year he's twinging it and pulling up sore.

I think we can get the points against Manly without him if Smithy tells JWH to pull his head in around the ruck and teaches our Captain to play the percentages when kicking under pressure.

What do you guys reckon? Anyone else as concerned as me or are Roosters' medico pretty confident he'll be over it soon?

I'd be happy for him to sit against Manly, but I think we need him after that. Of course though making sure we keep him fit all season is priority, so if it means missing the next few weeks then so be it.

Yeah we are in quite a comfortable position right now where even without Carney our team is farking good! We'll nees him more at the back end of the season (hustling for top 8) and during the finals. No use risking injuries now, then having him out for the business end of the season (Souffs can vouch for that one.)

Despite the lapse of concentration last night, I know that Carney is not the be all and end all of our team. But he is a massive and very effective part of it; would rather he play 100% fit than risk further damage and a long stint on the sidelines.

Don't want to speak too soon........

But from what I saw from Manly tonight against a very average Storm side, give Todd an extra week off.

Coming back early from a groin injury is a recipe for disaster.

              Carneys Groin

I agreee with all of the above sentiments, if its not right yet, keep him off the paddock until it is, better to be sure its ok, then take silly risks at this stage of the season.

Just on St George, surely they have been annointed as some sort of referee's favourites, after last years years Grand Final debacle, and again last night against the Titans, a referee unintentionally became involved in stoppiing a Titans player tackling a St George player, leaving hin with an open short run to the tryline, surely, a no try verdict, and a scrum , with a St george feed, would of been a fairer ruling, they still may of scored in that set of 6, but at least it would of been fair, and would not have a stench attached to it. Bloody saints cant seem to do a thing wrong these days.

we need him against Manly, St merge, Dogs, Panthers and Warriors. Let him sit the rest of the yr out to recover as I reckon we can beat any other team in the comp without him.

Totally agree with everything said above and after watching the merge scum stain vs titans game I had to shower to get the stench off me.

Watched that game with the brother in law who is a merge scum stain supporter and I can tell he is accustomed to his team getting the favour of the refs after his reaction to that incident you mentioned which was NO TRY every day of the week except when the merge scum are the beneficiaries. He felt the try was justified as a leveller for the titans' first try.

He won't play untill he is 100% pain free.

We aren't Souffs who were so desperate to win that they risked their best player in Round 1.

If we can buy a couple of wins without him there then we should be resting him until it is one hundred percent. We've got the points in us when he isn't there to win against most teams. It's our defence that is the concern, not our offence.

I'm sure if there was anything us female fans could do to help carneys groin heal ever a week earlier we would be lining up yes we can win without him but I love watching him tear teams apart

what your thinking of would most likely impede the healing process dramatically lol

I thought as much, if only it was the other way around Carney would be healed within a matter of hours.
