  • Team balance is still not right

we can't afford to carry Maubs and Anasta as backrowers they simply don't have the workrate to get us on the front foot, as it is unlikely that Anasta will be dropped it means Maubs needs to go out to the centres or on to the bench.

our forward pack was very ordinary today:

    Hitups Metres
    8. Jason Ryles Prop 13 (93m)
    16. Mark Riddell 1 (16m)
    10. Martin Kennedy 7 (58m)
    6. Braith Anasta 5 (32m)
    12. Mitchell Aubusson 6 (49m)
    13. Nate Myles 7 (54m)
    9. Jake Friend 1 (11m)
    11. Frank-Paul Nuuausala 11 (85m)
    14. Jared Waerea-Hargreaves 9 (90m)
    15. Mose Masoe 6 (65m)

Were taking 4 props into the game and 2 blokes to play lock. They need to lift their work rate. Especially when our backs do the first couple hit ups.
Maubs is not the problem. He works his ass off in defence and he creates so much in attack. I was unhappy when we resigned Anasta, he just doesn't offer enough!

We aren't getting enough out of Ryles thus far. Especially with the number of soft penalties he gives away. He really needs to lift his game big time. Personally, I'd change the forward pack to look like:

        8. Myles
        9. Friend
        10. Kennedy
        11. FPN
        12. Aubusson
        13. Anasta

        14. Conn
        15. Masoe
        16. JWH
        17. Symonds

Ryles can go to Newtown for the moment.

our bench forwards continue to outshine our starters, i know that the starters have to experience the intiial 20 minutes of argy-bargey but the difference between mose, frank and jwh compared to ryles, myles and anasta is ridiculous

No and he outplayed Kennedy, he's just the easy scapegoat because he was renowned for it at St George despite not even being our top penalised forward last year.

It's an argument that comes up every time we lose, unfortunately our go forward became irrelevant today because he dropped so much ball. I think we struggle to go forward in the first 15 minutes of a match but after that we do it pretty comfortably through our expansive style of football.

                    Ryles is crap.

                    He cost me the cash.

                    Bring back Dallas Hood.

I have been disappointed with both Kennedy and Ryles so far this year. No real impact. Both bench props are outplaying them.

I would give Kennedy a week or two in reggies. He looks like he needs to play longer minutes to get his fitness up.

I would bring Conn in if he is playing well for Newtown (haven't seen him).

Mose, JWH and FPN were our best forwards today. Symonds was last week. Smith has to find spots for these 4 and get the on the paddock for long minutes.

                        Kane Linnett

What are your thoughts on Kane Linnett?
Hasn't really done anything out of the ordinary the last two games IMO. Maybe because of limited opportunities? If so, how/what does Smith do to get him firing?

                        Interested in peoples thoughts.

We desperately needed a second Kane Linnett to give Carney some attacking options on the right wing.

No speed out wide = compressed opposition defense = our forwards being easy meat.

I'm happy with linnett. He's one of the few players that we got that actually runs straight and hard. Most of thd rest either run sideways or run in slow motion.

For his pay packet, he's doing his job. It's a pity that can't be said about some other more expensive players.

Conn has to be in there somewhere!
Kennedy had dissapointed me big time the last 2 games!....Biggest farrker in the world and runs like a girl scout!
                              **** this impact shit too!
As far as i'm concerned, you should always start with your best 13, and Mose, Friend And FPN are in the best 13 imo!
Perret should be on thin ice with his under 7's errors!
                              I don't give a farrk if he's a good dummy half runner!
Justin Carney could do just as good if not better out of dummy half because he's pretty much another forward with his size and strength! I want a winger who's a good finisher and can score tries FFS!
We need to get off our defensive line too.....We stood back and waited for them, and they rolled through us all day, and they were a reserve grade side at best!
                              Rant over......for now!
