  • It's not the 60's & 70's anymore. Unfortunately I was brought up to mind my language-not the TV show-so when i hear younger people swear like sailors, I recent it, but unfortunately I can't do anything about it. It's just progress. All sports have those moments, lets be thankful that swearing is the only thing that happens.

It is not progress it is a lack of values and parenting skills. Sorry to get off track but it irks me to hear young kids have no respect in a public place.

In real life no. Well not to my face anway. Has anyone told you how easily you are baited ?
              When you trust your television
what you get is what you got
Cause when they own the information
they can bend it all they want

Not necessarily. I would never swear around my parents/teachers/adults in general when I was younger but around mates it was entirely different. I would say that's about as successful as you could hope for...unfortunately your mates are always going to influence you, maybe more than parents.

Hope you were on your knees when you wrote this. A Royal pardon has been granted.
Continuous bad language throughout a game is annoying. ......but there are times when a saint would swear.

Then in that case, the western bays would be far more suitedn to you.....

I visited the choookpen on Sunday with the view to suss out the atmosphere for my 6 yr old son with view to ticketing him as a chokpen member. There was 100 people in the pen if that, we sat next to a group of regular mugs whos language even made me blush, and came home with my son telling me the referee sucked. The mugs sitting around us however made sure they yelled all game that the ref was a w*nker, made sure the Manly fans were flipped the bird every opportunity, and yellled four letter words as often as they could. Guys - the mugs were out of shape 30 yr olds who, if I hadnt been with my son, would have snotted myself. The pen was poorly organised, no one arranging chants nor song, and spend the whole second half quiet bagging the team. When Im ticketing my family I reckon I'll ticket over in bay 13. I remember as a kid our language was average but we were always careful around kids - the pen was full of them but the only people making noise were some out of shape mugs who couldnt fight there way out of a paper bag. You cant get respect unless you earn it - chookpen - not a place for families.
Im not trying to be rude or anything, but i swear my head off at every game because of the passion I have, especially when a rubbish call gets blwon against the roosters.
if you dont like the swearing you should just move some where else, even when mums or dad's sit infront of me and they have kids, it wont faze me. I pay for a full membership for the whole year and I like to enjoy the game and get straight into the way I like it, Its all apart of the game.
Maybe you should write to the nrl or something and tell them to make a bay for families only.

When you mix beer and Footy, all the formalities go out the window so yes, the western bays at the northern end where ther's no beer policy is right.

                          • I'm not going to try and read this thread but for what it's worth I completely understand where Will is coming from, whilst I have three young kids and I choose to sit in the Pen there certainly is a few people who take it too far and I have asked a number of Roosters fans to tone it on on occasions without retaliation.

I like the atmosphere of the pen, my kids do too but there is an element that take it too far and they know who they are.
