he may not be the archetypical winger these days but anyone who says he's slow is talking out of their ass.

He changed direction twice behind Linnett and Hayne and was still able to easily keep up and accelerate away once he got the ball to score that try against parra.

Phil Graham is still very quick, and would leave Perrett and most of our other backs for dead in a foot race.

Perrett is the Roosters version of James May (i.e. Captain Slow), oh but there was that one time last year against Manly where he beat a couple of nuffies so he must be fast.

Graham is not as effective as Perrett out of dummy half, but as far as speed in attack, try scoring ability, defensive positioning and safety under the high ball Graham is far superior.

Yes, that try against Manly was misleading: Matai, who was the closest to Perrett had picked up a leg injury during the game.

Nevertheless, while Graham has it all over Perrett for speed, Perrett is a vastly superior winger. (Graham is better suited at centre, and borderline NRL-standard nowadays imho.) Dummy-half running IS extremely important, and Perrett isn't just good, he's the best in the comp. Graham is close to the worst. Perrett also has the footwork and tackle breaking ability to make clean breaks, while Graham is merely a competent speedster when put into space.

Mind you I would prefer to give Carney a chance before Graham but I wouldn't be worried if Graham found himself in the team.
Linnett was carrying the ball, that would take a fair bit out of his pace... As far as outside backs in the NRL are concerned, Graham would be slightly above average for pace. Considering he doesn't have any other outstanding attributes and a number of defects I can't see him improving now.

Sorry mate but Graham is completely useless under a high ball.

He didn't say he wasn't completely useless, he just said he is far superior.

Anybody see him play for the Jets today? I read that he conceded a try by allowing his tackler to make a strip, but that's all. What's his pace like?

he's pretty solid but he's no superstar.

SMith has to win a flag sometime in the next 3 years and musn't think Graham is going to get him there

                      Thanks Buddy,

It sort of like Graham is better then Perrett in the air, but there are heaps better players than Graham in the air. Just making the point that Perrett isn't that good.

Blake Ferguson, now there is someone who is good in the air (and has pace to burn).

Look at the 3 tries (Perrett's annual average) Ferguson scored tonight, the one Steve Michaels scored last night or the one Jarral Yow Yeh scored last week. Can you see Perrett scoring something like any of these??? I sure as hell can't, sure he scored an aerial try in the Souths game, but even then he nearly dropped it. But he's a nice guy that tries hard so that should be enough to keep him in the team

Kicking someone elses bomb on the full to score (or was it to setup) a try > kicking you own grubber to score.

Bet you conveniently forgot that moment
