Last year he was one of our best forwards. We would have got ryles cheap aswell. His doing well, yeah he stuffed up one game, give him ago and he'll improve from the last lgame he had VS the dogs.
Mate I hope you are right. I am just so tired of him protesting his innocence every time he is penalized for his dumbness. He is meant to be the leader of our pack, the guy the young bloke look to for leadership. I just don't think he is fulfilling that role.

I would be very happy to eat my words in a few weeks but am very pessimistic about his chances of coming good.

I think we would all agree that what wins games these days is momentum, sustained pressure and discipline. I don't see Ryles fitting into this formula.

Linnett has obviously picked up some injury if not in the Jets team either.

Apart from Perrett this is our best team named this year

Inevitable with Maubs shifting to centre I would have thought. Maubs/BJ would be a rather speed-challenged combo.

Ryles is yesterdays prop, and nowadays is one of the least effective props in the NRL

His leg speed and mobility are terrible, he's an easy mark when he runs, and I honestly can't believe how he is in this side
Why is it then that BJ has managed to stand out in attack? Good players go looking for work. He doesn't run any lines, he can't beat is man one on one & isn't a powerful ball runner. He needs to develop his game, simple.

Ryles is still one of our better middle third defenders and whilst I agree his attack has left a lot to be desired this year to date it shouldn't mean he gets dropped. 3 games doesn't make nor break a player...

I like it a lot better particularly in terms of balance. The main reason i have thought that BJ is better off at left centre than left wing would be that considering he has played the majority of his career as a forward, it would help to sure up our left edge as his size and workrate would help anasta. Moving maubs to left centre acheives just this. our criticism of the maubs/anasta backrow combination is in essence that both lack the workrate and go forward in particular to carry in our backrow. This way you have them playing together down the same edge such that they can share the attacking responsibilities and also the wokrate associated with backrowers. having BJ on the wing outside them only serves to help this better as he will be able to provide good go forward as well. the only problem with this move is that we lose pace in linnett.

J Carney is the best player to replace perrett and imo plays a very similar style of game so i will be interested to see how he goes.

My only problem is with the forwards. The backrow is probably as good as we can get it. The primary change i would make is Ryles to the bench and JWH to start. imo JWH is one of those players that revels in the opening exchanges particularly the contact. This also allows us to split our 2 more grinding props (Kennedy and Ryles) between the bench and also the starting side which provides better balance as well as spreading the impact team equally between the bench and starting side (JWH and Masoe).

My side for this week to take the field would therefore be:
              1. Miniciello
              2. Carney
              3. Aubusson
              4. Kenny-Dowall
              5. Leilua
              6. Carney
              7. Pearce
              8. Kennedy
              9. Friend
              10. Warea-Hargreaves
              11. FPN
              12. Anasta
              13. Myles

              14. Conn
              15. Ryles
              16. Masoe
              17. Symonds

In terms of a succession plan, when anasta retires, maubs shifts back into the backrow to play inside SKD down the right, Leilua shifts to left centre and we get a fresh face on the left wing to provide speed in particular.

                        Ok lets start basic do you disagree that;

Linnet has been poor in attack this season
Ryles is a good middle third defender
Ryles attack has been lacklustre or
Bj has been great in attack for us this year

Haha mate, I think people are misunderstanding.

When you said: "Why is it then that BJ has managed to stand out in attack? Good players go looking for work. He doesn't run any lines, he can't beat is man one on one & isn't a powerful ball runner. He needs to develop his game, simple," people thought you meant that BJ never runs lines, never beats his man, isn't powerful etc.

Clearly you were talking about Linnett.

                          That should clear things up.

The only one holding a cock (not yours) would be you Roosterfagatarian, Linnett has an injury.

The problem with that left hand side is it gets choked up by Anasta.. We run far too many skinny blind plays which have little chance of succeeding.

                                "middle third defender"?

what's that ?....what about the other 2/thirds of the field?

lets not over complicate it ...he is now simply going through the motions..STA bus driver style...checking his bank account every second thrusday ....standard 10 hit ups every game

...and by the way - Smith aint dropping him

                                Loves his favourites

Drops a young kid with potential, and holds onto a ageing bus driver - over the hill

                                it's got me f*cked
