  • Who'd win?

    In this bad boy -

    2002 Roosters v 2009 Dragons.

Roosters at the form they had going into the finals that year, Dragons at the form they had mid-late season last year.

Both pretty much unbeatable in those periods.

All passes were sticking, defense was unbreakable, confidence was cocaine level, squads were awesome...

Both went on to cane Super League teams in the WCC.

      Roosters 02 Team.

Defence just as good as St George, But we had far more in attack, Jamie Soward would be out matched against Freddy.

          Depends who is refereeing.

Anyone with eyes - us, by a shitload.

          Archer - them.

I assume 09 is a typo. Us easily.

The best games would be between Broncos 00, Storm 07/09, Roosters 02, Dogs 04.

Two teams got there through cheating the cap but easily the 4 best teams in recent history imo.

              Can't split the Storm 07 & 09 sides

I still reckon we were better than the Dogs in 04. that GF still irks me from the dogs being able to keep a team they got by cheating to Hazems double movement

we had them on toast in 2003 and 2004 ...and the later part of 2002.

This really frustrates me because it still comes up... Hazems try could not have been a double movement, it could have been 'held up' but not a double movement...

Its a pet hate of mine together with people that misunderstand the shepherd rule, anyway double movement is when the arm holding the ball hits the ground and momentum is stopped, and the player then makes a second movement promoting the arm with ball in hand towards the tryline...

No double movement in 2004 GF as he was over the tryline and on bodies but he may have been 'held up' that is debatable...

They were both great teams and as someone mentioned earlier our team, the dogs team and the storm were the teams of the decade

Looking back on the lineups the bulldogs bench isn't often given the credit it deserves in 2004: sbw, maitua, thurston, asotasi all kids then and all went to become top players in the game (except maitua and his drugs issue)

Also looking back there were dangers signs before the 2004 GF especially with our GF qualifier against the Cowboys which we were very lucky to overcome, and that told with our disappointing 2005 season... For me the big missed chance came in 2003, we handed it to Penrith on a platter that night, we were in raging hot form throughout the finals and heading into the finals

It was defense that got us there in 02, not attacking flair . Ttey wore teams down.
I think the Guppies game the other night showed if you bash St Merge they fold.
That to me proves Roosters 02 would win.

03 and 04 still hurt, but not because of refereeing decisions, but because certain players (or player) did not come close to earning their paypacket in those 2 games.

And at least one other looked like they couldn't be bothered...

Im yet to see defensive intensity that scared and maimed players like the Roosters did in 02. Saints arent even close.

The winning white says it all Bansai. When they started ****ing around with shorts and socks, we lost to mojo.

From now on all finals matches we need to wear White Jerseys, White Shorts, White socks. Flawless record.

They wore all white again at some point and lost. I remember because I blamed Finch for breaking the perfect record.

How did that outfit ever come to pass?

It must have been a mistake that they stuck with for superstitious reasons. Someone forgot to pack the blue shorts with the away jerseys.

They were late getting some ****ing Keno logo on the Navy shorts so they wore the white ones. They won their first game in them. The rest is sweet History.

You are correct. It tool someone as ****ed as Finch to crush a legend.
