Are you taking the piss? We lost 1 match from Round 19 to the Grand Final in 2004 and the Cowboys were the form team of the finals after beating the Bulldogs in Sydney in the first week and then keeping the Broncos scoreless the following - we may have had some fortune from the referees that day but winning that match was one hell of an effort.

As for the 2003 Grand Final where you say we "handed it on a platter" to Penrith - geez that's harsh, Priddis played the best match of his career and had one of the most dominating individual performances in a grand final in history, yet the match was a slugfest and in the balance for 70 odd minutes. The 2004 Grand Final however we should have lead by 20 at half-time, the way better team in the first half only for us to choke and let in 2 soft as butter barge over tries in the second half to lose.

2005 was a disappointing season because Freddy retired and Stuart had no clue without him, that simple really.

2004 was the GF we handed to our opponents on a platter. Simple dropped balls, dumb options. 2003 Penrith played the game of their lives and the weather conspired against us. A dry track in 2003 and we would have won comfortably.

You are correct. It tool someone as ****ed as Finch to crush a legend.
Pretty sure that was the first Souffs loss in 13 years ... the night Funch kicked several field goal attempts over the corner post ffs. He rubbished the winning white with that joke of a performance.

I would say 02 as defensively they were more ruthless mind you they needed a wake up call when Morely went mad over Freddy's headbutt.

We played our GF in 03 against the bulldogs in the final .That was the square up game for them outed the year before.
I really mean this one Easts bloke said he and others involved didnt care about the GF result - shocking but those were his words.Phil Gould summed it up before hand They were switched on for the Bulldogs game and it was high physical effort .The day before PG Gould said they were not switched on for 03 ...BUT Ricky declared them as switched on.

04 On our way to giving them a hiding then we fall into a heap .
Two reasons as the coach said - Finch for both GF's his kicking and passing game killed us and sent us backwards same as for his both second half performances

Philly is a smart judge he recommended in 03 and o4 do not play Byrne he will cost you -overuled 04 do not play Hodges and Walker and play Wing at half- again overuled.

I think the Gould /Stuart partnership ended in 03 leading up to the GF
Ricky felt bad Byrne missed 02 GF after playing nearly in every game and though he deserved to be there in 03.

If you sit back and reflect we were beaten in both second halves as the opposition were off side constantly which nullified our attack and put the main target spastic Finch under pressure.
Sure the ref didnt blow any penalties thats expected in second halves ......We needed good kicking games in both second halves and it didnt happen

You have to remember and I think Supermuz will verify this -for those who wore sports ears will tell you Gower and Preston were warned 35 times that they were off side . I think we got either one or no penalty.

Penrith won the battle fair and square I could live with that.
wasnt happy with the 04 result -main reason been they changed that rule of decoy runners for one year that farken year which we paid the price for despite the Bulldogs player tackling was miles away from Mini -that player tackled Flannery knowing he would get a penalty.Ref wanted to give it and was amazed the video ref dissalowed it -it was the right call under the rules -I believe that Ellebo was held long enough but then again we must pay the penalty for the clapping seal -Hegarty-he couldve made sure for fark sake its a GF.
My summation is we lost fair and square, some selection blunders were made-Its History -Two powerful personalities clashed Gould/Stuart = we lose
I can remember in 04 the only games we lost when the opposition was always inside the 10 badly and if you got away with it good luck its the same rules for every one.

How did that outfit ever come to pass?

It must have been a mistake that they stuck with for superstitious reasons. Someone forgot to pack the blue shorts with the away jerseys.
The legend of the winning white started Round 22 in 2002 (vs Brisbane)

The team wore white jerseys, shorts and socks and Justin Hodges topped off it off by wearing white boots in a man of the match performance.

This was the game where we unvealed our brutal defense that would take the winning white juggernaut through an unbeaten run to the 2002 premiership. Awesome, perfectly drilled defense I remember it sent shivers down my spine.

Isnt we could only wear our white when we are the away team?

I can't shake off the 2004 Grand Final loss till this day. We played against 6.8 million dollar team and our soft cock team didn't Hold up Hazam. Terrible.

They should have had the blue on hand for the photos in 2002.

Like when Spain one the World Cup in their alternate jersey, they switched to the famous one for posterity.

I reckon the all white might need to be broken out again at some point.

Should we make another GF, maybe then.

                          It's simple.

Roosters had the better squad of players however St Merge have the best coach.

We had such a great squad those days we carried da finch into GF's.

Unfortunately, St merge have a better record as well (two minors, one premiership and one WCC) and still have this yr left.

will never forget Warren Ryan's comment on ABC radio after the 2004 GF

                            "Finch's game tonight was appalling"

                              i rate 3 gf's in a row, 1 minor, 1 premiership, 1 WCC above that

EDIT: that roosters team still has the best record of the modern era (removing the storm because they are illegal cheats).

                                I rate the Storm higher.

All they did wrong was get caught.
