  • Anasta Retirement Year

Our second Rower...............4 runs for 45 metres (yes 4 runs!!!)
the only other player with less is Piggy but he only played for 19 minutes.

Our second rower must have then had a big game in defence?......19 tackles....the only forward to have made less was Masoe and he only played 34 minutes!!!

Mitchell Pearce made more runs, more metres and more tackles than our forward veteran.

He was useless at 5/8, funny at fullback, and absent at second row. Anasta for bench?

We will regret a big value longer term deal for him, he leaves us lacking for size speed and $$$ to chase an aggressive meter eating front rower

Stats don't tell everything, he definately adds an option in attack and has that touch of class.

Does need to lift his work rate though ...

He missed some terrible tackles too, Braith has no purpose in our team as many of us have pointed out. He should have gone to the Cowboys and taken up the 6 role, that's the only way he knows how to play nowadays. I was willing to give him the offseason in the second row to see how it goes but he just doesn't get in there and do enough - the thing is when he does a hitup he's not halfbad either, plenty of size and strenth about him but he wants to throw the last pass or do the fancy kick shit instead of the hard yards.

            A pointless contract extension.

              Quiet Bwaiff.
Stats might lie but 4 runs?....or were you doing crazy decoy runs

                You forgot his 4 goals.

Seems like a reasonable game in a winning side where all players contributed something to the win.

                    Anasta was very good today.

Way better than the other two play makers.

I can understand Carney being flat.

But the time has come for Mitchell Pearce to deliver. Sure he's good, but he's not the game breaker we've all been led to believe he is. Definitely not Origin level.

Personally, I don't believe the hype.

Thats a bit unfair, he brings Martha off Home and Away and she brings Nate Myles anorexic teenage fiancee. thats a massive off field edge

You need brains, not just size (not saying our big men lack brains.) I'd love to see Mose:
                        - Captain the team.
                        - Mentor/father guys like Carney on and off the field 24/7.
                        - Kick a ball (no seriously... doubt Mose could even do a drop goal from right in front.)
                        - Play 5/8 or any major ball distributing role.

Balance is crucial, how many big islanders did St Merge have when they won the GF? The smarter team will always win... not the team with the bigger guys with high workrates. Sure guys like Fitzgibbon come along with pretty well all the traits, but salary cap aside, how many of them are there in te NRL?

Anasta is fine and he's already taken a pay cut. He'll retire one day and we'll all miss him...

Carney showed glimpses of the Dally M winning efforts from last year.

Mitch Pearce is showing every week that he is going to make a great center/lock like his dad.

                          Just like these guys:

                            Braith yet to sign?

Don't know if correct or not, but in the Sunday TeleCRAP today it said that Braith had YET to sign a contract! That 3rd party deals are yet to be finalised.

Tried to find a link on there website but could not find anything.
It was in the middle section with Bekky Burbon & Cocksucker.

then again, would not trust anything they say anyway.

He did exactly what was required of a halfback, he organised the pigs to keep going forward all day, backed up, ran the ball, was involved in at least 2 of our tries and defended well. If he does that each and every week we will kill it.

                              Chook.
