Brain [not to be confused with "The Brain"] Smith -9- Another masterful game plan. Save for the turnover from the restart following our first try, our use of the blindside came off as though it had been scripted.

Nevertheless, I would leave Maubs there, because it's the only practical way to fit Symonds into the team on an ongoing basis. It also shores up our defence out wide. And while we mightn't have a speedy backline, it is advantageous to have guys on both sides of the field--Maubs, SKD, BJ, possibly J.Carney--who, when we're close to the line, have the power to turn half chances into tries.Last edited by junglefowl; 04-04-2011, 11:00 PM.

Last year Mini had a couple of highlight reel playmaking moments, including a wonderful short ball to put Maubs through for our first try in the big win against the Eels, and that superb cut-out pass that nailed one of our last gasp wins (against the Broncos from memory?). What Mini did yesterday, which he needs to continue to do, is that he stopped overplaying his hand. He has been trying too hard to be a playmaker every second set in recent weeks and nothing has come off for him. If he can pick his moments like he did yesterday, he does have some skills to offer.

I like Conn he is a good tackler he can offload he should be there every week. J. Carney played well, Todd is getting better. That Arona kid looked pretty sharp, good footwork and passing.
Pearce again was poor. Can I ask why when we have 3 kicking options we are always putting crap kicks in? It killed us last week.
Pearce should just concentrate on kicking into the corners and directing the forwards around. Leave the other stuff to Todd and SKD.
Good wrap brain.
Chook.
