I know I'm in the minority, but I don't mind TOK at all. Yes he can sometimes sound off and berate people for their narrow minded view of all things rugby league, but overall his contributions are usually pretty close to the mark. Some of us do see the rugby league landscape through red white and blue lenses and that is to be expected I suppose.

I tend to think that a lot of our problems with officials are self perpetuating. We are perceived, wrongly or rightly as an ill-disciplined team. Refs tend to look more closely at us and as a result they find more things to penalise. Saints on the other hand are the 'god-boys' of the refereeing world and it seems that they can stretch the rules a bit more than other teams because the refs don't appear to be as eagle-eyed. We all then get frustrated and out comes the 'refs are going to cost us the game' line.

Now before people shout me down and say that this is hardly fair. I agree. But we're like the child you have whom you don't trust. We watch that child more closely until they earn our trust. That's what we have to do. We have to earn the trust of the referees again. Its not going to be easy but it can be done. I'm not sure what the numbers were like but from 2002-2004 I can't remember us being hammered too often by the referees. We need to be an extra step behind the refs in the play the ball. We need to get off the player that half a second earlier. We need to get our hands away from the ball a bit quicker. I know this may cost us some short term pain in games, but Saints are living proof of the long term benefits

Isn't that the same thing as saying the refs are costing us?
If we lie on a player for a split second less than a Dragon we concede the penalty but they don't. They can get away with forward passes but we don't. That reminds me of the Bulldogs game last year where we were called for a couple of forward passes that puzzled even the commentators. The Dragons have a habit of being offside for the first 2 or 3 tackles and then get onside before the ref calls the penalty (watch it closely) but we get called.

It may not be corrupt but this is what is frustrating to most roosters supporters. Why weren't the tigers penalised when Myles/Masoe (I think) was pushed when getting up to play the ball but the tigers copped a penalty a few minutes later for a lesser infringement?

Why do we need to earn the trust of the refs? They should be neutral and show no bias for or against any team. Yet we seem to cop a lot less of the 50/50 calls.
