Mack, since the middle of last year FPN has struggled for any consistent performance, its like he only has a significant impact on a game once every 6 weeks, I found it very strange how quickly we decided to extend his contract so early this year, its something we may live to regret, as I think at this point in time he is going to force out a couple of players out of Tasi/Arona/Conn/Symonds who IMO deserve a place in the squad ahead of FPN.

in regards Anasta, I get the feeling Smith would have prefered he was let go and it was just all the media sensationalism that put pressure on Noyce/Uncle Nick to resign him, IMO we can't keep carrying a second rower with such a low workrate, we already have two playmakers a third is a luxury and Mini is making matters worse getting in the way as well, the team balance is clearly not right and it is shown on the field every weekend.

Well in the long run I would definitely like to see:

      4. Linnett

      8. Conn
      9. Friend
      10. Kennedy
      11. Aubusson
      12. Symonds
      13. Myles

      14. Watts
      15. FPN/Arona/Cherrington
      16. Hargreaves
      17. Masoe

...but to be fair, it is hard to justify simply letting a NZ International, and the team captain, go.

I hate to say it but there is no way we should extends Mini's contract just because of the long service discount in the salary cap, unfortunately he has been crueled by injury and is now more of a liability in the team, he has just lost that ability to break tackles and gets dominated on kick returns and he tries to compensate by being another playmaker but just ends up getting in the way.
I agree. Perrett should be coming up to the 8 year long service discount very soon, so that should nullify any extra costs. I know he isn't a great back, but he provides a lot of utility and depth to our squad, and given his long service discount it might be worth keeping him. Aubusson, Pearce and a couple of others aren't that far behind him either.

I'm also a firm believer (same old spill again) that Mini needs to move to the wing and we have to give one of the young guys a shot at fullback ASAP, before we find that we have spent unnecessary money on a replacement, or we find our young guys aren't up to scratch and we have missed a golden opportunity to spend money on a replacement.

Do we even need to buy? I mean Kennedy, Masoe, Conn and Maubs are all first grade standard or better, and most of them should play rep footy sooner or later. Then you have guys like FPN, JWH and Myles who have already played rep footy. If anything, we have too much depth in our pack.

I will feel sick to my stomach if Tom Symonds plays anywhere else and sicker still if he ends up playing for the mercenary coach smiley.

Oh I agree. I'd just like to see some of these young guys have a few seasons to develop before we discard them, which hasn't gone so well for us in the past.

Have a think about where we are going. Judge the team in 20 weeks.....not now.

Smithy comes up with the goods...he's a legend.

We come below the 8....You'll tell us how bad he is.

                        Tom Symonds must be kept.

Maybe he wants to go to the Knights now that Bennett is there.

He goes to the Knights with Bennett, he'll likely be running all day and not tackling, ...on the back of favourable penalty counts all the time, or what seems like all the time.

How much is his Roosters contract? $50,000 like Shackleton's was?

How much are the Knights offering him? $300,000 a season, or $200,000?

They could pay him $400,000 a season, and next year just pay him a pittance then double the next year, like the Dragons did.

Boyd goes with Bennett because Bennett helped him at the Broncos when he was in the depths of despair or something.

Hard to be ruthless when you 'rarely' have possession.

Very very unlikely any club is offering him 200,000-300,000 at this stage.

2,3,4 hundred thousand for a guy who has played less than 20 first grade games, and mostly off the bench? Is it a 20 million dollar salary cap?
