    Certainly there are a great many alcoholics carrying on, functioning, turning up for work reliably, not being violent or getting caught driving drunk. Supporting a family and carrying out all their responsibilities. So they aren't labelled alcoholics by the people around them. But they sink a lot of piss and feel the pinch if they do without it for a day or two.

    Then there are the people to whom alcohol isn't the central core of their existence, the thing around which their whole day and life revolves, but who simply turn into a nasty piece of work when intoxicated.

    I guess you are saying our Toddy is in the latter group.
    Lets not take this too seriously. the guy is a chronic pisswreck loser but that doesnt make him much different from 98% of NRL players and ordinary Australians, most of whom also manage to be fully functioning members of society.

    the difference is that footy players face death everytime they go to work and are supposed to be angels and role models for sick kids in the bush off it. imagine if we had the same attitude towards spitfire pilots in the battle of britain as we do toward Loig heroes in the battle for the winfield cup.

      Chinaski would be qualified to have an opinion on this subject.

        Totally agree.

        But from what I've heard he was a proper animal in Canberra. Kind of prick you wouldn't want to come across if you were out with your bird.

          Greg Bird, the kind of prick you wouldn't want to come across on your Todd.

            Interesting....

            By being alcoholics they find it impossible to be reliable... often they are prone to erratic and poor decision making, poor impulse control and a great number of things that people, especially us Aussies, make allowances for.

            It's not only about how much someone drinks, it's about why they do it and how they feel when they do.

            Todd is a young man wo is rapidly approaching the point of no return with his drinking. He'd be in the category where there is nothing going on in hisr life that having a drink will make it better.

            I hope, for his sake, that he gets good help and takes the only option still available to him.

              Alcoholic, My Derriere! That was Carneys defense team advising him. He is just a young guy who likes a drink or ten. Nothing wrong with that. If he had the shivers, he should have worn warm undies.

                It's the first symptom of a flu;

                Fever and extreme coldness (chills shivering, shaking (rigor))
                The withdrawal innuendo whilst fun is way off the mark.

                  Why is it drug addicts and computer aficionados are both called users?
