  • So much wrong!!!

There is just so much wrong with our club at the moment, it's ridiculous, it's worse than 2009, worse than anything i can remember in the last 12/13 years!! On the field we suck....off the field we suck, we are a disgrace. I'm sorry but i was trying to stay positive after everything thats happened this year and even last night, but waking up and hearing about the latest watts/carney fiasco just makes me sick to my stomach. The team ruined my saturday and now my sunday as well, i say stuff em...IF IT TURNS OUT TO BE TRUE THEN SACK EM BOTH IMMEDIATELY...NO QUESTIONS, NO STALLLING NO MORE BS!!!!

And while you're at it, sack smithy, i don't care that he took us to the grand final and what not, the bloke was meant to bring discipline to our club after a horrible 2009 on and off the field, he had a good 12 months, but it's all gone now, all his work undone and he doesn't seem to be doing anything about it. After every game his comments and interviews don't reflect the attitude of a coach who's team is 2-5 (going to be 2-6 after next week) and had more off-field incidents already than the whole of 2009!!!! I'm sick of it, our club is in crisis and anyone that thinks otherwise is kidding themselves!!!! I can't take this **** anymore, honestly, it's a joke, and if i was a supporter of a rival club i'd be laughing my head off at us. How can we wear our jerseys with pride if the club we support is the laughing stock of the league, we're not only easy-beats on the field, we're retards off it, everything that can possibly be wrong with a club is happening at ours, something needs to happen and happen now!!!!

Big Call!! 2009 we had more players arrested than we won games. It is only round six. Signs are certainly not good but a season takes a lot of twists and turns before it is over.

best to not go off too early in my opinion.

It might be the right time of year to have a slump and we know SFA about the "Watts, Carney fiasco" yet.

that's just it mate, IT'S ONLY ROUND 6!!!!! we've had 5 times more off-field incidents than wins so far, i know no one has been arrested as of yet, but it's only a matter of time given the way we're going, how are things gonna change unless we make change!?!?!?I'm usually an optimistic bloke but there's only so much one can take, i mean if we were atleast good on the field, the off-field things would be bearable. Poor footy can eb fixed quickly, poor attitudes and disciplines aren't so easy, every year we seem to have one or two bad blokes that seem to influence other players and make the rest of the team look bad. We need to get these blokes out of the team ASAP.

It's alright if we have a slump on the field, but an off-field slump is never good!!! And our slump started in the preseason and still hasn't ended!!! It's time to take some action, we can't just sweep this one under the rug again. If it does turn out that watts is guilty of something, send him on his way and if carney was involved with it, he needs to go too, i know thats means that our on-field performances will stay the same, but i reckon it's worth sacrificing short term success for long term gain.

Funny how the Broncos can sack their coach on the eve of the competition and replace him with a no body and yet be competitive. Imagined if our club did that? Would we have the metal to be competitive OR the Bondi lifestyle doesn't encourage 'HARD' work. With all the distractions of our surroundings and the carefree attitude, I am now questioning whether relocation is a better option. Just a thought.

I think that as soon as Henjak was sacked, Lockyer had to have a huge season. It was Locky's game last night.

mate that location excuse is irrelevant, it's not about the bondi lifestyle, wherever you go there will be nightclubs, pubs etc. Every player from every club has the opportunity to be a drunk retard, but it seems our players are the only ones doing it on such a regular basis. The only way to get away form the "city lifestyle" would be to relocate ot the country which we know isn't gonna happen cos then our already dwindling crowd numbers will decrease. There's only one option and that's for heads to role. Simple as that, and then in the future put more effort into finding out about the attitude of blokes before we sing them, we have made so many poor decisions in signing blokes that re playing well, without having a look at their behaviour and what type of bloke he is. We need to go through the roster and clear out any bad seeds and dead wood along with it.

Wonder what the great Jack Gibson would think of our front office.

Maybe we need to start there as step 1 in rebuilding.

I know about the location BUT what else is it? We have bought many good players for decades only to get to Bondi for a holiday. Having grown up in the Eastern Suburbs myself, I would never want to see them move but we have to try and find why this happens. Of course there is clubs and bars everywhere its just that the Eastern Suburbs seems a little more like Hollywood than anywhere else in Australia. We get into more strife than those Rabbits...why?

One word, and it gets tossed around way too much...CULTURE! It's the attitude that the players, coaching staff and club staff take day in day out. You're right we get in to more strife than any other club, our discipline off the field is even worse than our on-field discipline (and considering we're like the most penalized team ever, that's really saying something). It starts form the top, we saw it with the dogs a few years back, awful off-field and on field and then todd greenberg steps in and cleans out the whole joint, gets rid of all the bad seeds, dead wood and everyone that's bringing the club down. Then it's the coach, he has to demand respect and has to take responsibility for players misbehaving, and finally it's each individual player- they have to realise that they're not only letting down the club, but also themselves when they do something stupid.

imo, our CEO is fine, but he needs to be a bit more strict about things, starting now! imo, our coach isn't fine, he has down some good things for us, but when he came over here he was renowned as a strict disciplinarian, if anything we've gone backwards since 09 in that respect. We need a tough, respected coach that takes no BS, one slip up and your gone, blokes like bellamy and bennet come to mind. I like smithy but his "mellowing" over the years has made him too soft to coach a team like ours, it won;t happen BUT he has to go!

And then finally the players- most of our blokes aren't bad, btu it only takes one r two bad seeds to make the whole team look bad, every year we've had a few of those blokes and eventually they leave the club, but we seem to keep signing these blokes, blokes that think coming to bondi is a holiday, a break, where they don;t have to take things seriously...that's become our culture unfortunately...AND WE HAVE TO CHANGE THAT NOW!! I have no doubt in my mind that 2011 will be a big year for the club, it can be the year we finally change the things that have been going wrong for so long, or we can just sit back and wait for the next string of incidents and watch our great club fall even further.

It took a wooden spoon for our blokes to pull their heads in and focus for 12 months, i hope we don't need another to see the days of 2010 again

BOTTOM LINE: WE NEED TO CHANGE THE CULTURE. How do you do that?

                        1. New coach or get the old smithy back
2.Make it clear to all the players that we're not a holiday team- any slip ups, any complacency, any stupidity and YOUR OUT THE DOOR...SIMPLE AS THAT...ZERO TOLERANCE- it works for bennet and bellamy and look where they are now- the two powerhouse teams of the comp!
3.Take great care in future signings, no matter how good the player is, unless we have a coach that can control him, there's no use buying him.

In theory it's simple and obvious, but practically it's gonna be hard, and with our recent history in mind i don't think anything big will come of it- and the BS will continue until someone high up in the roosters hierarchy has the guts to do or say something!

I wonder if there are more dramas at the Roosters than we know about & if the result is whats going on the field.

There probably are, but all clubs have internal problems that never go public, and they don't always effect their performances on field, but for us it obviously has. Unfortunately this will never happen, but the following people must go now:

watts, carney (if he indeed was drinking) and smithy (i know it's harsh and the bloke took us to a GF, but he's just not tough enough anymore, put in a caretaker coach until we can find someone else)

and then the following people must go at the end of this season:

conn, ryles, riddell, graham and anasta (i know he just signed an extension- the biggest mistake we've made in the last 5 years as far as contract extensions go, the bloke gives us nothing, people are saying his experience and cool head is useful for the younger blokes, but regular off-field incidents and disgraceful form on the field shows that he isn't doing the job of a captain).

These are all tough decisions, but they need to be made to save our club!!!

I doubt we will make any tough decisions. Wouldn't want to upset the precious ones would we?
