Can someone please lead me to the report that states Carney was drinking alcohol.
Has this been 100% determined?
I'm sure you can buy lemon, lime and bitters at a club while watching the football.
Until I hear that he was drinking alcohol then all it is is that he was out with a team mate watching the team play a game. Why would he drink in a public place?
If Watts did nothing to his girlfriend then Carney would not be in the news.
Too many times people jump to conclusions. Let the truth come out in the next 24 hours before we hang the guy.

When did Carney or the club say that he was quitting the beers?
IMO he should have simply stayed off them (but I reckon all professional sports people should have a no beer/smokes/drugs policy for performance more than anything.) If not drinking can get that extra bit of performance out of players who are paid to win then it's a no brainer for me.

I can't believe people actually want Carney sacked for the horrible crime of being mentioned in a Rothfield article.
Here is the list of stupid things Carney has done while on the drink since coming to our club:
-try to light a fart on fire
Here is the list of things Carney has done on the football field since coming to our club:
-take us to a GF
-win a Dally M
Give the guy a bloody chance. Since coming here I have seen nothing to suggest that he is out of control the second he touches a beer.
Obviously I'm leaving out the drink driving incident, because that didn't occur while on the drink. It was an error in judgement but not one that was influenced by alcohol imo, given it happened the next day.

NO!
A smart lawyer could make a case that if he's had a drink, [alcoholic addiction is not easy to beat], it's the club and the NRL's fault for not insisting he live with an older, non-drinking person.
Would he be the first person attending AA to have failed at their first attempt?
Answer: no.
If the NRL is going to 'lynch' him and sack him from his job/career, [oh how they loved to bask in the glory of his achievements last year], for falling at the first hurdle in the long and difficult race, then it should take a long hard look at the way it's doing things.
Playing 'God' with young people's lives is not something to be taken lightly...if one wants to have a clear conscience when standing at the Pearly Gates for judgement.
Gallop and co should ask the Salvation Army if anyone battling drug addiction, [and alcohol is a drug], and a complete change in lifestyle is successful at their first attempt.Last edited by bondi-boy; 04-17-2011, 06:24 PM.
