    You sound like her indoors.

Agree Watts with Watts. My only point was that the trip that everybody says Carney lied about wasnt a lie as he told Smithy. Unfortunately the getting together with Watts wasnt in the plan, nor was being on the piss to 4am

I'm all for the club punishing Carney in some way, be it suspension or hefty fine. He has breached club policy and betrayed his team mates and coaching staff.

I do find it laughable however, that the masses have called for him to be rubbed out of the game altogether.

You can't punt a player from the game just because he has publicly declared he has a problem with the drink, then to be found drinking.

If he had've dropped a turd in someone's shoes, or urinated on David Gallop, or farted in TOK's face, then perhaps you would look at terminating his NRL contract.

      Go Easts.
Born and bred in the eastern suburbs.

        .
LOL. I think that declaration was made on the bequest of the legal process and disgruntled employers.
In Vasco world i could "publicly declare" i'm a sleepy head and then be found to be lethargic and disinterested at training. Sweet

        sack the bogan alco

If you think a couple of weeks off will get his head right after the numerous attempts and failures he's had in the past you are kidding yourself.

          Chook.

I am not sure that anything will get "his head right"..He was a loose cannon in primary school..Some things never change..

What he did on Saturday night is not a sackable offence. He has let people down who trusted him. Nothing more..

We'll agree to disagree as I am of the firm belief given the amount of chances he's had the above bolded bit IS a sackable offence. Todd Carney cannot be trusted to do the right thing by our club, it's that simple.

              Chook.

See my feeling is that I don't think the guy thinks he has a problem.

I think that he feels entitled to go out and have a good time like his friends and team mates do.

I mean look at his last two problems, they aren't exactly the crimes of the century.

For me though if he says he has a problem I would be sitting him out of the game for as long as he needs.

If he has a problem with alcohol, I don't think he should be anywhere near a footy club. Get the help and worry about footy later.

There just has to be a line in the sand. If he has a problem go and fix it, if there isn't one sit him out for 2 weeks and the next time he stuffs up he is gone for good.

Is he getting paid while he sits around ?

Sitting him isn't going to do much. Just give him more free time.

If he can't handle living in the East and playing football then getting away won't help change that.

                  Remember his Atherton trip ?

The truth is that coach Brian Smith granted him three days leave because Carney felt drained and hadn't been well. Carney said he was going to Goulburn to spend time with his mum. That didn't happen. On Saturday afternoon, Carney rang Smith and said he had changed his plans and would be going out for an early meal before heading home to watch the football.

So looks like Smithy at least knew the trip to mums was off the menu. Unfortunately he then got together with Watts.

But I think regardless, this drinking would have surfaced again sooner or later and maybe at a worse time.

Yup, makes a huge difference as far as I'm concerned. The only things he's guilty of, as we now know it, is breaking his promise not to drink, and the team rules about not drinking while injured. If he was indeed coerced by Watts that is also a mitigating factor; it doesn't exonerate him, but it is less serious than than Todd having premeditated a night on the town. A fine should be sufficient. In Todd's case a big one, due to his rap sheet.

All valid points Fitzy. I just don't think it's a case of if he stuffs up again, but when. I mentioned it in another thread, he is very easily lead by others. JT has mentioned he was hanging out with Mason over the off season when all his drinking issues started again apparently. And he was asked out by Watts on Saturday night that lead to the current situation.

He might be a champion footballer, but he's a weak minded idiot who can't say no to the drink or other idiots, and that is a recipe for a derailed season.

                      Chook.

You're kidding yourself as much as Todd is if you think a fine's going to make a scrap of difference

While I agree with the majority of your post Vasco, that bolded bit would earn him a Golden Boot and another Dally M mate.
