I'd really rather not see him sacked. We need him, and the seriousness of the offences Watts is charged with put Carney's misdemeanours in perspective. But he is certainly not innocent and some kind of serious action needs to be taken.

But if that's not enough, you reckon he did nothing wrong if he lied to the club about visiting his mum so he could go out on Saturday night instead of supporting his teammates?
Give me a break JF. Carney was drinking in a public place. If he had anything at all to hide he would have gotten smashed at home or a friend's place. The club knows full well he has had a drink since the court case. The club knows full well the players have a drink whilst injured.
If that's even remotely true than it's part of this shit culture I'm talking about dice. That crap needs to stop and players and officials need to know it will not be tolerated.
Chook.

The exact facts need to be confirmed before anyone can justly proffer a strong opinion about what action should be taken against Todd. But it's simply not true that he's "done nothing wrong", and even in the best light it is hardly a nothing matter for someone on his 1000th chance.

Yeah...Lets get rid of them All!!!
So how do we recruit the next players? Do we have them do psychometric tests Or lie detector test to ensure they are not on the grog? Perhaps we can have them take a urine test everyday for 3 months before we sign them up and then what? C'mon...get real.

This story is just not about Watts and by some association Carney. Its about the Roosters culture and the club. It all starts from the top, the management is weak and the players (employees) think they can get away with anything and are a protected species. Lets not forget the drunk half naked coach approaching a room, the defecating naked player in a hotel corridor, lets not forget the current player caught and found guilty of drug possession, the previous drunken aggressive behaviour toward women by certain players, prior to this current incident. A team/club with convictions. What does the the club managment do what do the administrators do? Where is the example? This culture is endemic in the club. Strong leadership begins at the top and without respect there is no loyalty. I guess that's why Samsung a multinational pulled out as a sponsor but the roosters kept on the board an executive that resigned as CEO from a leading upmarket retailer after a well publiced sex harrasment case . The roosters arent just a club in crisis they are a disgrace. Bring on the independent commission not this farce adminstration. The roosters have brought the game into direpute time after time.

Jumper major sponsor will be The Salvo's or St Vincent De Paul.

The truth is that coach Brian Smith granted him three days leave because Carney felt drained and hadn't been well. Carney said he was going to Goulburn to spend time with his mum. That didn't happen. On Saturday afternoon, Carney rang Smith and said he had changed his plans and would be going out for an early meal before heading home to watch the football.
So looks like Smithy at least knew the trip to mums was off the menu. Unfortunately he then got together with Watts.
But I think regardless, this drinking would have surfaced again sooner or later and maybe at a worse time.
