  • For Carney it is not a football issue anymore....

Firstly let me just say that it is disgusting how Todd has been dragged into the disgraceful behaviour of that grub Watts and been made to look like he has done something that he hasnt.

But for Todd his issues arent about footy anymore. He needs support and help with his alcohol problems so he can be a better person not a better footballer. Football is so far second it isnt funny.

I agree with many on here that state he needs to be looked after and I dont believe sacking his the right thing for him. He needs someone like Jman (who I might add I admire for the work he did with Jake) and fellow players who can step him through this. Not as a fellow footballer but as a fellow human being.

There are many who would say just sack him and let him rot. Not very humane and certainly not what is best for Todd the person

      sorry but whats your point?
      Yes he's probably an alcoholic.
Yes those close to him owe him some duty of care.
But why the Roosters should necessarily do this is beyond me.
Go back to Mummy, work in that bar for a while and get on with life.

Because it's the right thing to do.

I assume that his fellow players are also his mates so I ask you "If your mate had a problem would you just say go back to mummy and get on with it?"

Are those the same mates that let him/ helped him spiral down to these depths?

You are way off the mark. Carney's life at the moment is the Sydney Roosters. It is unreasonable for Roosters management to expect Carney to stay at home by himself whilst ALL of his roosters mates are out socialising.

If the club is serious about fixing a "problematic" drinking culture then they should be supporting the players by with social alternatives.

I will be filthy if the club sacks or even suspends Carney for "having a drink with is mates".

When will Gallop be demanding Watmough submits an AA-new lifestyle plan to the NRL?

Oh that's right, it's the Sea Eagles.

Do y'all see Manly sacking Watmough?
No, and you're not likely to either.

No. But his "mates" are professional sportsmen whose obligation to Carney lies outside of working hours. Carney "the person" as you put it cannot expect solidarity that is propped up be a leagues club.

Then why on earth would players join our club? I know I wouldn't.

Cool.... So when you go for a job you don't want your employer to give you any support if you have any problems that come up?
