Myles and Symonds both possibly gone? Is there anyone else? I think I'm going to be sick.
I believe that forward packs need a fine balance between Polynesians and Anglo/European players. Losing the above two would upset that balance in my view.

LOYAL Sydney Roosters forward Nate Myles has pledged to see out the remaining 18 months of his contract as the club seeks to repair its image.

Spotted in secret negotiations with Gold Coast Titans chief executive Michael Searle 10 days ago, Myles has re-affirmed his commitment to the Roosters.

The Titans have emerged as heavy hitters on the NRL open market, luring Bulldog Jamal Idris and Shark Luke Douglas north next season.

Myles is next on the Gold Coast hit list but the Queensland Origin forward has ruled out a return home to the Sunshine State - for now.

"I'm contracted until the end of next year with the Roosters and my focus right now is to perform and play well for the boys," he said.

"I love all the boys at the club, they're the reason why I re-signed last time.

"I've got enough to worry about here at the moment without getting caught up in what might be happening a fair way down the road.

"The Roosters and my own form are my biggest concern. I don't rate my form at all.

"That's harsh, but I expect more of myself. The last two games I've improved, but I'm looking to contribute a fair bit more."

In a wide-ranging interview ahead of tomorrow's Anzac Day clash with premiers St George Illawarra, Myles opened up about:

        * The Roosters' team meeting aimed at addressing the club's damaged culture;

        * Why he'll always be there for teammate Todd Carney;

        * How Anzac Day ranks alongside grand final and State of Origin matches; and

        * The Roosters' erratic opening to the season and his own poor form.

There is no camouflaging what has been a torrid seven days for the Roosters.

The image the club fought so hard to rebuild last year has again been sullied in the aftermath of Anthony Watts and Carney being caught out on another bender.

As they bunkered down at the club's Moore Park headquarters all week, the Roosters faced questions about the club's off-field issues rather than the positive news angle of the grand final re-match against the Dragons.

"We did get together and speak. A lot of the boys are really trying their hardest on and off the field and it just seems to be the one or two slip-ups from the repeat offenders that drag that down," Myles said.

"We worked hard last year on getting a good culture at the Roosters and we want to keep that going. We know what needs to be done."

Myles was candid on the subject of Carney.

"I've had a couple of yarns to him. He came around the other day and we had a good chat and I had another long chat with him [Friday] night on the phone," Myles said.

"I only want to see him back on the field if he's fit and healthy in all departments."

There is no better stage for the Roosters to silence their critics than against the team who trumped them in last year's grand final.
"We don't hate the Dragons, but we owe a good performance against them," Myles said. "Anzac Day is an amazing day. It takes your breath away. It really is a great occasion and one of the true highlights of the year."

I saw that article yesterday and I still have big doubts he will be with us next year. And if he is, then he won't be come 2013. Anyone who goes on tours with club CEO's 18 months out from the end of their contract leaves me wondering...

Apparently he went up to the Coast and did a tour of the CoE and rest of the Titans facilities. That's what I read in another article. Point still stands though if that is wrong. Eighteen months till the end of his contract and talking to other clubs....

No he didn't... he might of gone up there in '09 but not recently.

QLD is his home, if he wants to return in 18 months then I'll hold nothing against him, he always gives 100% even if his form is down which he admits to in that article.

People went off a little early... who knows what was said in the meeting anyway. A week later they signed Douglas.

All he's obligated and expected to do is fulfil his current contract to the best of his ability.

                      http://www.couriermail.com.au/ipad/roosters-set-to-cut-nate-myles-loose/story-fn6ck6f

THE Roosters may be forced to release Nate Myles from the final year of his contract, as the team faces mounting salary cap pressure and cashed-up rival clubs.

Myles - outstanding in a 24-10 loss to St George Illawarra - is contracted until the end of next year, but has been given permission to talk to rival clubs as the Roosters attempt to offload players to free up room under the cap.

Gold Coast spoke to Myles, who is contracted to the Roosters for 2012, earlier this month about joining their rebuilding campaign.

Roosters teammates Anthony Minichiello and Frank Paul Nu'uausala last night urged their club to sign the Queensland and Test forward for life, with Nu'uausala declaring the lock their new Craig Fitzgibbon.

Myles would have shaped as a choice as man of the match had the Roosters gone closer than they did against the relentless defence of the Dragons at Sydney Football Stadium.

"He was a big part of the reason why I re-signed here, and I want to make sure he stays," Nu'uausala said.

The Dragons yesterday showed terrific scramble and commitment to every tackle of every set. Their will and desire in defence is as strong as any side today.

After five successive wins, the question must be asked: "Who is going to beat them?"

In the 20 minutes before half-time last night, St George Illawarra were bad, conceding penalties when in possession, were marched for back-chat and dropped passes - and all coming out of their own end.

By halftime the Roosters had 29 tackles in the opposition 20m zone, the Dragons only six.

There is no doubt the Roosters missed the spark of the stood-down Todd Carney.

But somehow Saints went into half-time ahead 6-0.

"We built our reputation on that. It's not something we haven't done before," Saints coach Wayne Bennett said.

"They defended magnificently. It makes me feel very proud of them."

Minichiello was full of admiration. "They defend the same way each week," he said.

Roosters skipper Braith Anasta added: "It's mental as well. They have a belief they can stop you.

"They are the best team in the comp for recovering (in defence) and working."

Two minutes into the second half, Dragons man of the match Darius Boyd scored to give his side a 12-0 lead.

The Roosters chipped away through two tries, but were always more than a converted try behind.

I wanted to resign Anasta at the start of the year but...

How are we close to the salary cap? Especially when you compare to St George, the Dogs or Souths. I'm thinking a clean-out at the end of the season is warranted from some overpaid deadweight. Ryles, Riddell, Graham to start with. Unless Mini can get back to his best, either on the wing or at fullback, then he may be in that group too.

Re-sign Myles and Symonds, get rid of Ryles, Piggy, Graham, FPN and Watts and I'm sure that salary cap pressure would be a little better.

You are cracking jokes!!! Unless they invent a time machine he will remain where he is now, in the bottom 3 fullbacks in the competition... If he plays next year, surely he will require a zimmerframe.

Myles was the best forward out there today and that covers the merge scum's forwards too. And the idiots that pass for Roosters management want to release him due to salary cap pressures? Pay Anasta less for starters because whatever he's being paid he isn't earning in my view. This farking club is giving me the sh1ts large at the moment.
